Jade Palace Chinese Restaurant
About
A Taste of Tradition in the Heart of Waimea
Jade Palace has long served as a reliable local haunt for those craving classic Cantonese flavors amidst the rolling green hills of upcountry Hawaii. Stepping inside, you are met with the familiar clatter of ceramic plates and the unmistakable, comforting aroma of wok-seared ginger and garlic hitting high heat.
The Flavor Profiles of Upcountry
This is where you come for unpretentious, generous portions of Chinese comfort food. The menu sticks to the classics that locals expect, from savory char siu to crispy honey walnut shrimp. The kitchen maintains a consistent rhythm, focusing on bold, salty-sweet profiles that pair perfectly with a shared bowl of steamed white rice. It is the kind of place that favors substance over flair, making it an ideal pitstop for families coming off a long day of exploring the north side of the island.
Practical Dining Notes
The space carries a quiet, nostalgic air, feeling like a time capsule of local dining culture. While the dining room offers plenty of seating for larger groups, keep in mind that the lot can get a bit tight during peak dinner hours—a small price to pay for a hot, ready-to-go meal. Whether you are grabbing a quick takeout order to bring home to the Waimea highlands or settling in for a relaxed lunch with friends, the staff keeps the service moving with efficient, no-nonsense hospitality. It remains a staple for anyone in town looking for a straightforward, satisfying meal that hits the spot without the need for reservations or dress codes.

Large portions of delicious Chinese food served quickly by friendly and attentive staff. We ordered the dinner for 2 which would easily be enough for 4. Lots of variety on the menu to meet everyone's taste.

Jade Palace – Waimea’s Hidden Gem for Big Groups & Big Flavor We’ve found our go-to spot in Waimea: Jade Palace, where the food hits the spot, the service is fast and friendly, and feeding a hungry group doesn’t break the bank. We walked in with a party of six—no reservation, no wait. They sat us right away (huge bonus points), and parking was a breeze. Gotta love a place that’s both convenient and delicious. Our usual? The Family Dinner for 4—and yes, it fed all six of us with ease. We ordered: Orange Chicken – perfectly crispy with a tangy-sweet glaze. Salt & Pepper Fish – light, flavorful, and not greasy. A sleeper hit. Beef with Broccoli – classic, tender, and comforting. Mongolian Beef – bold flavors with just the right kick. The service is warm and attentive without being overbearing, and the kitchen turns out food impressively fast. It’s hard to find a spot that hits all the marks—great prices, generous portions, tasty dishes, and reliable service—but Jade Palace does it effortlessly. Pro tip: Come hungry, come with friends, and don't sleep on the family dinner—it’s the best deal in town.

Consistently Delicious & Generous — Jade Palace is a Local Favorite Jade Palace in Waimea has become one of our go-to spots for a satisfying, family-style meal. We usually order the Family Dinner for Four, and without fail, it comfortably feeds all seven of us — with leftovers to spare! The portions are incredibly generous, and the price is more than fair for the quality and quantity you get. Our kids absolutely love the orange chicken — crispy, tangy, and not overly sweet — and the salt and pepper fish, which is always fresh and perfectly seasoned. We never skip the beef and broccoli, a staple dish that’s savory, tender, and full of flavor. Their egg drop soup is also a hit — simple, comforting, and well-balanced. Service is always fast and polite, even when they’re busy. And the best part? No reservation needed — they’re efficient and welcoming every time we drop in. If you’re looking for flavorful Chinese food with great value and consistently friendly service, Jade Palace is a winner.

2nd visit and Jade Palace doesn’t disappoint. Service excellent, but the food was outstanding. Cold ginger chicken (huge portions!), even half order served 3 heartily. Hot & sour soup was flavorful and delicious. Pot stickers were meaty and the skin was fried just right, so delicious. Char Siu pork was very most, and duck was also great. House Special lo Mein was ok, but otherwise great experience.

They serve lunch deals daily - we ordered two lunch deal meals (sweet sour pork and schezuan shrimp), portions were generous and we were served soups as appetizers as well. Food was lovely and prices were great for the quality and quantity of the meals! Spring rolls and Rangoon wontons were yummy too.

They have the BEST chicken egg foo young. I search all year for a comparable dish on the main land. Only to return to the Jade Place in Waimea HI for my FAVORITE chicken egg foo young. It is one of the first places we eat when we get here. Be sure to order extra gravy and extra serving of rice and it is then enough for 2.
