Merriman's Waimea, Big Island

We enjoyed a Mother's Day "Eve" dinner here to avoid the crowds on the Sunday when everyone goes out to eat. The food and the service are top notch. We especially enjoyed the Wok Charred Ahi and the Roasted Chateaubriane of Hawai'i Island Beef. For salads, I highly recommend the Charred Hirabara Farm Beets. The only thing that could make the experience better is the location. Set in a strip mall of sorts, the exterior doesn't feel like a fine dining experience.

We always go to Merriman's when we visit Kona. We prefer coming for lunch so we can take a scenic drive back through the ranch land and Waikoloa Village back to the coast. Merriman's offers a small menu with enough variety for everyone. This time we started with the fresh and delicious beet salad (with papaya and macadamia nuts!) and added goat cheese. Don't miss the hillbilly cornbread, which accompanys the salad nicely. The fish tacos were fresh and delicious while the kalua pork sandwich offered a sweet and spicy bite of the juicy pork (this sandwich is a must). We finished with the incredible pineapple macadamia bread pudding, served warm with vanilla ice cream. The servers are friend and efficient and the dining room is compact but airy. This was yet another great meal from one of our favorite restaurant in the Big Island. Reservations recommended.

Always an amazing meal when visiting the Big Island. Quality local ingredients. First time doing lunch and it didn’t disappoint (have usually visited for dinner). Our family shared a bottle of rosé from Tuscany which was affordable and so delicious- I’m still trying to search it out.

Amazing food and amazing service. The wait staff is attentive and so polite. Even gave us some things to do around the island! Everything from the starters to dessert was top tier. Some of the most tender Mahi Mahi I've ever had.

It could have been a fluke.. I had one of the best meals I have ever eaten. I have been to top restaurants all over the east coast, and Midwest. The Hawaiian Beef! The cucumber salad! Not sure it was an on day or I was starving, but thank you.

This restaurant is one of the reasons you should come to Hawaii Big Island (Waimea). We had such a nice time at Merriman’s, everything we had was so good, and our server was so kind to us explaining the menu and helping with everything we needed. The desert was amazing too, pineapple macadamia bread pudding and chocolate mousse.

There are few things that give us more pleasure than perfect dining experience. Merriman's Waimea delivered in every catagory. Beatiful complex and complimentary flavors in each course. We had Tako “Escargot”, Ceaser Salad, Pa’auilo Baby Spinach, Day Boat Catch of The Day (Mahi Mahi) and Roasted Chateaubriand. Every dish was prepared to perfection and our superior service was provided by Emiko. So good we booked dinner for our last night in Hawaii. Our thanks to the entire team for an awesome dining experience.

Amazing Food, amazing service, best meal I’ve had on the island. I would come here every day if I could. I had the fish special one night and it was bursting with flavor so fresh and so good. It was just absolutely perfect. Our server was super nice and friendly and amazing. They refilled our water like five times; great ambience great service great food, highly recommend! Deserves a six star.

We were very excited to find this local eatery that seemed to be a must on any Foodies list. 90% local, Farm to table, carbon neutral restaurant! It's a small place so the popularity makes it hard to get in and reservations seem to be a must. We did get a late reservation and finished up early, they were able to move us up twice so we were very grateful for that! The Mai Tai cocktail with the lilikoi foam was excellent! The table bread was also very good, nice and warm, delivered with butter and crystallized salt. We started with the special tomato salad appetizer, which was very good but certainly not as good as peak of Summer Indiana tomato-like. You could taste the freshness and good flavor. There could have been a little bit more blue cheese crumbles on top, they were very sparse. Our waiter recommended the hillbilly cornbread so we had to try that! He said it's made with canned creamed corn and it was very very moist and did not disappoint! Definitely on the sweet side but I prefer that. Nicely grilled and delivered to our table warm with butter.

Incredible experience! Fresh and flavorful food, attentive servers, and warm atmosphere. We ordered the Poke and beet salads for appetizers - both were incredible. For entrees, I had the lamb and my husband got the NY strip. Both were seasoned and cooked to perfection. Also, portions were very generous! For dessert, we ordered the bread pudding which was so yummy and not too sweet. Overall, a perfect dinner to end our vacation in Hawai’i
