Aloha Burger & BBQ
About
A Taste of Local Culture in the Heart of Waimea
Stepping into Aloha Burger & BBQ, you are immediately greeted by the charcoal-scented air and the low hum of local conversation. This isn't your typical polished tourist stop; it’s a rugged, functional eatery where the focus remains squarely on generous portions of comfort food. The walls carry the salt-air patina of the Big Island, and the menu reflects a deep commitment to Hawaii’s multicultural culinary heritage.
Signature Island Flavors
The kitchen is best known for its robust plate lunches that define the local experience. Their signature Teriyaki Beef and Mochiko Chicken are prepared with a crispy, savory crust that pairs perfectly with two scoops of sticky white rice and a creamy scoop of macaroni salad. If you are leaning toward the grill, the burgers are notably thick, served on toasted buns that stand up to the messy, flavorful house-made sauces. It is straightforward, no-nonsense fuel for those spending their days exploring the Waimea highlands.
What to Expect
The atmosphere is bustling and casual, making it an ideal choice for families or hikers looking for a hearty post-trail meal. Be prepared for a bit of a challenge when searching for parking during the peak lunch hour, as the lot fills up quickly with local trucks. The seating is strictly functional—think picnic-style benches and high-traffic flow—but the efficiency of the staff keeps the line moving. Whether you are craving the smoky depth of traditional Hawaiian-style barbecue or just want a satisfying burger that doesn't hold back on the seasoning, this spot delivers a grounded, authentic slice of life in Waimea.

First time here. Was very excited for the lamb burger. And it *was* cooked to perfection. But the balsamic vinegar was not cooked down enough and made the entire burger taste like nothing other than raw vinegar. Kind service, however. Perhaps it was just a bad batch, but I wont be spending $21 on that again.

Cashier couldn't stay off phone but was very polite. Little pricey of $50 for 2 burgers and large fry with fountain water

I ordered the Wagyu burger medium-rare, but it came well done. It was dry and lacked both flavor and juiciness - definitely not the “big, rich and bossy” burger promised on the menu.

Great burger, good service, convenient location. Some friends of ours recommended this place to us. It is located at the start of the food court in the main mall complex. There are actually some interesting places there. Maybe next time. We got the Combo that came with fries and a drink. The burger came with lettuce, mayo and tomato. It was big. 6.6 onces. We asked to cook to medium and it was perfect. Extra toppings are more. The fries were good, homemade style and double criped. We tried the wasabi mayo , sweet chili dip and sun dried tomatoes and caper. They were all good but the last one, surprisingly, was the best. Ketchup and mustard was complementary. It did not take long to get out order but the place was not busy at the time. Seatung was either outside or in the food court area.

Burger is a decent size. Fries are big enough to share. Burger had a slight gamey taste, so its fresh Waimea grass fed beef. Order toppings which is extra.

The burger was amazing. The service was incredibly relaxed, no one seemed to be in a rush but we were on holiday so was happy just chilling. Staff are very friendly and the atmosphere was great. There are shops nearby to visit if there is a long wait on food.

We’ve always enjoyed the burgers at Village Burger - but lately they seemed to stepped their game up to 11. The Parmesan goop fries are so cheesy they are practically a meal unto themselves. And my last bacon burger (eaten at lunch time) was so big that I skipped dinner that night. Really enjoy the juicy, grass fed burgers - and since they are local we feel comfortable ordering them medium rare - even for the kids. I highly recommend the Parmesan fries and burger with slow cooked onions, cheese and bacon. We like the wasabi mayo and sweet chili mayo to take it even more over the top. We only wish they would stay open until 6pm (or later!)! It’s so easy to order online and there are so many times we’ve wanted dinner but they are already closed!
