A Sweet Escape in the Heart of Pahoa

When the Puna humidity climbs, the cool, rotating selection at Enzo's Ice Cream provides the perfect reprieve. Tucked into the unique, laid-back landscape of Pahoa Village, this spot is a favorite for locals looking for a quick, artisanal treat after exploring the nearby volcanic terrain. The shop embraces a no-frills, authentic approach to frozen desserts, focusing on quality ingredients that hit the spot without the pretense of high-end creameries.

Flavors Rooted in Island Soil

The menu here isn't static. You will frequently find inventive combinations that lean into local agriculture, often featuring fresh fruits sourced right from the Big Island. The texture is consistently dense and creamy, a result of small-batch churning that distinguishes it from mass-produced competitors. Whether you are craving a classic rich chocolate or something more adventurous like a tangy tropical fruit swirl, the scoops are generous and served with a genuine smile.

The Pahoa Experience

Stepping up to the counter, you are immediately met with the cheerful clinking of metal scoops against tubs. The space is modest, making it an ideal pit stop while wandering through the historic, quirky storefronts that line the main street of this iconic Puna town. Be aware that seating is quite limited, so most patrons grab their cups or cones to enjoy while walking through the nearby farmers' markets or heading toward the coastal trails. It is an unassuming gem where the simplicity of a perfectly crafted cone takes center stage.

On a rainy Saturday morning, my cravings for a milkshake compelled me to stop in and check this cute little cafe out. As I stepped out of the gloom, I was warmly greeted by a lovely young lady with planty of Aloha Spirit. This shop carries Tropical Dreams and Roselani ice creams which are both made in Hawaii. I had a really tough time choosing a flavor because there were so many that sounded incredible. However, I went with Kona Mud Pie and was not disappointed! My shake was the perfect consistency and had plenty of satisfying coffee flavor without being too sweet. I also had a chance to browse the locally crafted jewelry and artwork and found it all to be quite pretty and reasonably priced. Mahalo for the 5-star experience!

The new owner's are super nice! I usually get the shaved ice in a cup, which is always sweet and refreshing! Their chicken sandwich is yum too! Rib taco's was mouth watering also! They have tasteful art, that is for sale if inclined to buy, and cookbooks too! We're so glad this happy food place is here!

Nice family run business with island flavored ice creams. My favorite is the Coconut Haupia. They also offer banana splits, shakes, coffee, root beer floats, and shave ice. I always grab some ice cream when waiting for my dinner/lunch at the surrounding restaurants. Dessert first!!!
