Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen (15-2714 Pahoa Village Rd)
About
A Taste of New Orleans in Pahoa Village
When you are navigating the winding roads of the Puna District, the unmistakable aroma of Cajun-spiced fried chicken acts as a beacon. Located right in the heart of Pahoa Village, this outpost brings the signature Louisiana-style culinary tradition to the tropical landscape of the Big Island. It offers a quick, reliable stop for locals heading toward Kalapana or visitors just arriving from Hilo.
The Signature Crunch
The menu centers on the legendary buttermilk-battered chicken, known for its audible, satisfying crunch that gives way to juicy, marinated meat. Whether you prefer the mild or the spicy version, the seasoning profile carries that distinct peppery kick synonymous with the brand's heritage. The red beans and rice provide a hearty side, while the buttery, flaky biscuits are practically mandatory for any order coming out of this kitchen.
The Local Experience
Stepping inside, the atmosphere is utilitarian and fast-paced, reflecting the blue-collar spirit of the surrounding Pahoa community. It is a no-frills environment designed for efficiency. Be aware that the parking lot can get remarkably tight during the busy lunch rush, as residents from across the lower Puna region pull in for their favorite fried chicken fix. If you happen to visit on a rainy afternoon, the steam from the hot sides offers a welcome bit of comfort against the damp island air. It is the ideal choice for those who value consistent, bold flavors over formal dining formalities.

If you like Popeyes, you shouldn’t be disappointed! It was good food, good service, and clean! The only weird thing for me was, it was hard to find, and looked like it was closed! I went out of my way to find it cuz I really wanted Popeyes! I am happy I did, but maybe never get back over there cuz it is just so far out of the way for me! Well if you go here, and can find it, enjoy! Aloha! 🤙🤙🤙🤙

No breakfast food ? Big draw on the mainland . Prices are high because we are in Hawaii. Always opens seats and no one in line . Other than no breakfast the food is good as on the mainland . Props to the owners who do reply to your posts A+ for being accountable. Mahalo

What a great Popeye's! Tenders were delicious (crispy, hot and juicy), seasoned fries were great...kitchen and restaurant were clean, food was fresh and ready fast, and staff was friendly (and patient with us deciding which sauces we wanted) (5/31/2026)

I ordered a classic chicken sandwich and that’s all. I should have looked at it before driving away. I got home and realized they must’ve thought I wanted a mayonnaise sandwich with some chicken in it. I had to wipe away so much mayonnaise it was grossing me out. I don’t think anyone in their right mind would think it was ok to serve this to someone. They weren’t busy I was the only one in the drivethru. 1 star goes to the friendly young lady who took my order. Probably won’t come back here again so if that was what your sandwich maker intended for they got it.

Super clean, bright, nice. The staff are slightly lazy but the food was superb. Just wish it wasn't so far away from Hilo. The mac and cheese is chronic! Best mac +cheese I have ever had, by far. And they have a soda fountain. Just saying.

It seems everytime i come here to get a convenient bit of food, its anything but. They tell you that your order isnt quite ready yet, and have you park where theres no parking spots. Causing the goodwill employees to get pissy because the donation parking spots are being taken by popeyes patrons. By the time I finally get my food, the drinks I have are watered down or gone, the service is egregiously slow and the food isn't worth the wait to be honest The food that sits waiting for the one item that isnt done gets Luke warm to cold, and yet again popeyes was a waste of money and time People understand that they have to wait for food in drive through, i dont understand why im made to park everytime I go through the drive through. I order the food 30 monit3s in advance for christ sake and it still takes another 30 to get to me

I think her name was Cady, Carla ... cant remember. However, she was very professional and apologetic that we had to wait for tenders to be cooked. They had been real busy. But it was delicious and lived the service attitudes.♥️

After not receiving anything to eat my food with, I called and the manager Cheyenne told me I have to ask for utensils and napkins. I’ve worked food and beverage for years and with a to go order you always include both (clearly shying off any responsibility possible). Then no butter or honey for the biscuits (again you have to ask for it). We all know no one wants a dry biscuit. Then my chicken was purple looking. Didn’t even end up eating the spicy chicken because it was noticeably sitting for a long time and just looked unappealing. This franchise is a bad look for Popeyes!

Nice newer looking location with bright clean atmosphere. There is plenty of dining seating and space. We had a tough time finding the location while driving since it was in a corner of the shopping plaza. Luckily staff picked up our call and guided us there with a few store landmarks. Staff was helpful and courteous. Bathroom was nice and clean but there is only one. Food was hot, crispy and delicious as you would expect. They accepted the app deals and have similar in store offers. Enjoyed our experience her and will be back next time we are in the area.
