Cute spot, nice atmosphere. Definitely not cheap, so be prepared. 2 drip coffees, a scone, and a bagel was over $32. I wanted a slice of cake but a single slice is $9 before tip and tax. Despite that, the location is nice and the workers are very friendly.

The concept is good. It's a chill environment. Only a few issues that I had. I didn't expect to get asked for the tip before they did the service being that it's a restaurant style place. I paid like $70 for 2 people. We order in the front and take a seat. They brought our food to the table, but our drinks took a while and we were like half way through our food. I went to go ask and they said that ours were next. And even then they weren't brought to the table. I looked up and I see spider webs on the top which is a detail that they should consider. In general the food was good but paying $70 for food for two I expected a bit more. So expect to spend $20-$30 per person and add tip on top of that. Update: It is very unsettling that you chose to research and cite my out-of-state travel history and mentioned my partner. Instead of taking the feedback. I have reported the issue for harassment and privacy violation.

Best eggs Benedict I ever had, and the Monte Cristo is yummy too, everything is made with high-quality ingredients, and all their sauces are made from scratch of I could give them more stars I would.

The new owners of this place have truly outdone themselves! The recipes they’re coming up with are amazing. I’m so glad I discovered this spot on Instagram. Everyone who works there is super friendly and incredibly helpful when answering questions. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience—will definitely be back!

Had The Boss breakfast today and it was all of that! Organic eggs, your choice of bread/toast, your choice of meat (I picked bacon and it was a nice thick and meaty bacon well cooked as I like it.). Home fries are amazing! Made with peeled potatoes, onion, tomato, and mild peppers. Great tasting House Coffee, which Is as so tasty that I drank it black. Very pleased.

If you’re anywhere near Tin Shack Bakery, it’s a must-stop. This place has that perfect local Hawaii vibe—laid back, welcoming, and everything feels homemade. The pastries are unreal. You can tell right away they’re baked fresh, with flaky layers and just the right amount of sweetness. The breakfast options are just as solid, and the coffee pairs perfectly with everything. What really stands out is the consistency and quality. Whether you’re grabbing something quick or sitting down to enjoy it, it hits every time. It’s one of those spots that feels like a hidden gem but clearly has a loyal following for a reason.

So happy this place is open again! Delicious food and beverages (bread and bagels are off the hook!), amazing and thoughtful service, and excellent vibes and setting. Definitely the best breakfast/lunch spot in Hilo, hands down.

A little bit off the beaten path, but an absolutely spectacular place, both for the location and for the quality of the food and friendliness of the staff. The French toast was perfect, and the portion was generous enough for two people to share. The coffee was also very good, although I’d personally suggest serving it just a touch hotter. We’ll definitely be back!

We visited during their grand reopening, and the energy was just as delightful as the food. The homemade bagels have that perfect chewy texture, but the real showstoppers are the banana chocolate chip scone and cinnamon roll—they're essentially a masterpiece of comfort food. Beyond the pastries, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming despite the opening day rush. We're really happy we found this place on our trip to Volcano NP.

Great bakery and food stop. It doesn't look like an official eatery, but a local kitchen that has a few tables and chairs. The place was inviting and the bakery goods were delicious. We bought a few breads and had one of them sliced to eat with our breakfast/brunch. The drinks were huge and very good, the lox and Benedict were ok, and pleasing. I'd stop by again for another morning meal.
