Romano's Macaroni Grill

Currently out of customer service and most ingredients. Twice we went and stood in line at the hostess stand. Both times we waited, and waited, and waited some more without ever being acknowledged. We left, looked around and decided we wanted to give them another try. We'll, again, we waited, and waited and nobody ever acknowledged us. We got tired of waiting in the hot entrance without acknowledgement again and left. We sat on the bench in front of the entrance for another 20 minutes (about an hour in total by this time) and saw family after family walk it l, wait and then leave disgusted at the lack of service. I hope this isn't typical, but we (like most people) are only visiting for a little while and likely won't have the opportunity to make this right. So, I can only leave with this experience and leave you with the photos of them out of everything, including customer service. For reference, the guy in blue is not me, but another customer that was ignored into leaving.

We ordered gluten free pasta for my son who needs to be gluten free. First of all they said it would take 30 minutes. We went back after 40 minutes and they said it would be another 20 min. Also I walked through the restaurant after we placed our order, to use the restroom, and it was not busy. When we finally got the gf marinara pasta, it was falling apart, I think it was supposed to be penne, but it was hard to tell because they cooked it too long, and it was falling apart. The taste was not good and it was very bland. I don’t know why some restaurants, that are supposed to be Italian, don’t know that the pasta water needs to be salted, before you cook the pasta. I can’t believe we paid $27 for pasta that is terrible. We should have bought pasta from the market across the way and a jar of marinara sauce which would have been less expensive and better tasting. In my opinion this place just needs to close and hopefully something better will take its place. If you want good pasta and gluten free options go to Pueos Osteria in Waikoloa village.

Came for lunch on our last day in Kona. Service was friendly and attentive. Food was overall underwhelming. The bread and dip looked good but it tasted like stale bread that was toasted. The lettuce had dry chicken and pre-packaged salami slices. The meatball and spaghetti didn’t have much flavour. I would compare it to opening a jar of sauce and putting it over some spaghetti noodles.

Place was empty at 11:30am on Saturday. Food was very good and service was excellent. Portions are huge, so come hungry. We had the spaghetti, lobster bisque (excellent), Chicken Parmigiana. Definitely would return. Pricey, but everything in Hawaii is high priced.

You want crappy food at expensive prices, this is your place. What a disappointment! Pork chop lacked flavor but no worries they added a sauce which wasn’t much improvement to the dish, risotto was way overcooked and no flavor at all just sticky mushy gooey with mushrooms, the best part might’ve just been my broccolini which was cold bc they cooked it and blanched it to serve it. Chicken Parmesan was over cooked and bottom was burnt now worries because it came with a pile or more like a mountain of noodles with very little sauce but tbh the few bites we took just tasted like plain noodle. The Salmon dish was okay nothing impressive, which probably made it the best dish on our tab. There must be no over sight before dishes go out bc this was a true disappointment, sauce and flavor need major improvement on all dishes. I would never eat here again and definitely not worth the money.

First time visiting a Macaroni Grill. Have seen them around for years. We were a party of 18–so that’s a big group. The restaurant’s air conditioner was broken and they would not allow us to sit outside. The ceiling fan was broken, too so it was a little hot. The waiter really tried his best and seemed genuinely nice. The food was “meh” at best. The Italian meatballs from Costco have better flavor. Our family was together and we created some great memories. Would not go to another Macaroni Grill, though.

Our waiter was awesome! She was nice and always had the food out to us in a timely manner. The food was also very good and reasonably priced. There’s bad cell service but they provide free wifi!

Amazing service, waiters and waitresses; food was top notch and so worth it! i would suggest getting a reservation because its an average 30min-1hr wait if not. But once you’re seated you’ll be greeted by such kind and friendly servers and be served in a timely manner! I definitely recommend leaving room for dessert because it was AMAZING!!! Thank you so much to our wonderful server, Nainoa, you made this dining experience the greatest it could’ve been! If you can’t decide where to eat THIS IS THE PLACE!!

We went here for Christmas Dinner with high expectations considering the prices and reputation. The dishes weren’t terrible, but we got the margarita pizza and it came out quite lukewarm. The spaghetti and meatballs were great and the lobster ravioli was not bad, but not what would be expected for the price of the meal. This isn’t usually something I’d report on, but the high table we sat at was very sticky to the touch, which was a little unnerving given present circumstances. Our waitress was also somewhat aloof and just not there mentally. So, not my favorite island experience.

We went there on a Sunday late afternoon. Friendly welcome at the door and seated quickly. Perfect place to go with kids. Jamie was very attentive and helpful, great service! The food was delicious. The chocolate cake was a dream, could however additionally go very well in combination with vanilla ice cream, too.
