Rocko's Country Cookin'
About
A Taste of Home in the Heart of Waikoloa
When the craving for genuine comfort food strikes while navigating the Big Island, Rocko's Country Cookin' serves as the go-to spot for locals and travelers alike. Tucked away within the breezy community of Waikoloa Village, this eatery ditches the resort pretension for a laid-back, plate-lunch atmosphere that feels like a backyard gathering.
Hearty Flavors on the Saddle Road Corridor
The menu leans heavily into the kind of soul-satisfying cooking that pairs perfectly with the cooler mountain air of the region. Expect heavy, flavorful portions of classic American country staples—think crispy fried chicken, savory meatloaf, and mounds of creamy mac salad. The kitchen prioritizes volume and seasoning, ensuring that every plate coming out of the pass hits that savory, salty note diners expect from a traditional country diner. It is the kind of fuel you need before heading out on a long hike or finishing a scenic drive through the Kohala District.
The Diner Experience
Stepping inside, the vibe is strictly informal. You will hear the sizzle of the flat-top grill and the hum of conversation from nearby tables, creating a casual, no-frills environment. While the service is friendly and efficient, it is worth noting that space can get a bit snug during the lunch rush, so come prepared to cozy up to your neighbors. It’s an ideal stop for families or anyone looking to grab a substantial meal without the formalities of a sit-down dinner service.
If you find yourself winding down from an afternoon in Waikoloa, stopping by Rocko's is less about fine dining and more about grabbing a hot, reliable meal that stays true to the roots of country-style comfort cooking.

My husband and I are on our honeymoon in the island and we have had delicious food all around but honestly the food and service at Rocko’s 10/10!!!! Thank you for your business and amazing attention ♥️ We strongly recommend breakfast here! We didn’t have time for a before pic but here’s the aftermath!

Outstanding food! I had the chicken waffle which I would highly recommend and my wife had a delicious tuna melt. My new favorite place to eat on the island.

Went here for breakfast and worth the trip from the resort areas. Rocko's Country Cookin' is in a new shopping center and worth the ride up. Go visit when in the area!

While visiting Hawaii in the Waimea area we were looking for a local place that could fit a group of 7. Thanks to Google we stumbled upon this place (a hidden gem in my eyes). It’s a new establishment opening back in December of 2022. They have indoor seating with a mix of table sizes seating between 2-6/8 and outdoor seating of 4-6 tables. The staff was AMAZING!! Even surprising me that they had enough gravy left for one more biscuits and gravy after I was initially told they were all sold out. If your looking for local-ish, great vibes, great food, nice food selection to include sweets, then this is your place. I’m sad I will only be able to visit this place once during my trip.

Rocko's is fantastic. I was greeted immediately after walking in (by three different people). It's not fancy, order at the counter and take a seat. That being said, the food was great, it was actually too much just for me. I had the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and string beans. Delicious. I highly recommend giving Rocko's a try. We have to do our best to keep these small businesses in business. I cannot wait for my next visit as I'll try the brisket and enjoy my meal outside watching the sunset.

Very good eats. Chicken waffles were tasty. Taco salad was a hit. Pulled pork was a bit salty but good smoke flavor and juiciness. Mashed potatoes were amazing.

We were driving from the Waikoloa Hilton to Hilo and wanted a breakfast place on the way. Rocko's hit the spot. I got pineapple waffles on special and my wife got the chicken and waffles, and both were great. The service was very friendly and helpful, giving us pointers for our drive and making sure we were taken care of. It's easy to find and very convenient, and I would recommend it to anyone driving through.
