About
Savor the Best of Kona Brewing in Waikoloa
Positioned within the Hilton Waikoloa Village, the Kona Tap Room serves as an essential stop for those looking to unwind after a long day of snorkeling or golfing on the Big Island. The space leans into a casual, open-air design that captures the cooling Pacific breezes, making it a perfect transition point from afternoon pool sessions to evening social hours.
Island-Inspired Pints
The beer list is centered on Kona Brewing Company’s core lineup, featuring perennial favorites like the Big Wave Golden Ale and Longboard Island Lager. You’ll find the pour quality is consistently crisp, served in a setting where you can hear the faint hum of lobby activity mixed with the rhythmic clinking of glassware. It is the kind of spot where flip-flops are the standard uniform and the lighting dims just enough to make the evening feel relaxed rather than stuffy.
Practical Island Bites
While the menu is streamlined, it focuses on reliable pub fare designed to pair with hop-forward IPAs and smooth lagers. Expect elevated appetizers that hold their own against the heavy tropical humidity. Keep in mind that as the sun dips below the horizon, the room tends to fill up quickly with resort guests; grabbing a seat at the bar early is your best bet for a view of the television screens or a chat with the knowledgeable staff.
A Local Hospitality Benchmark
Beyond the taps, the service reflects genuine Hawaiian hospitality. It is not the place for a quiet, intimate dinner, but rather a hub for connecting with fellow travelers. Whether you are a fan of traditional island craft beer or just looking for a convenient place to grab a cold drink in the heart of the resort area, this space delivers a straightforward, authentic Waikoloa experience.

Makai and the other male waiter behind the bar are top shelf. Irene remembered my name. Tanya is caring and genuine. In an impersonal age, what a personal touch and great place for a drink and a bite.

Read the reviews, including those about poor service. But the night we went there we had a hankering for some cold beer. So we thought we would give them a chance. We were seated outside right away. Good start. Hostess gave us menus and told us the waiter would be with us right away. So far so good. There were five other customers, it couldn’t take that long, right? After 10 minutes we said we’d give them another 5 minutes. After 15, another 5. After 20 minutes waiting we walked out past two waiters chatting. Too bad, Kona beer is a good brand.

Best place to end my night, just came from a sunset cruise and needed some quick bites and a cold beer and it sure did deliver! Chicken wings, quesadillas and ice cold beers. Cute little kittens running around the bushes was the best entertainment, they don’t bother you one bit.

Bar was hot and incredibly humid, no circulation. You can't order drinks from the bar if you sit at a table inside or outside. Spent over an hour waiting for a sever to come out to us so we could have a refreshing drink, this is after asking the bar tender and a server multiple times as kindly as I could to please come server our wedding party. Incredibly disappointed in management for having such a short staff, losing 100$ in revenue and tips. On top of sub par service, can almost guarantee that most of our group won't return.

I am here now. For 108$: There are feral cats running around, I’ve been here for quite a long time, hardly any service, ordered a drink with my meal (nachos, took an hour, lol) and I’ve been done eating for a while. Not sure where it’s at 🤷♀️. Edit: I just went into to beg for someone to bring me my drink. Edit: the cat is on the table, trying to eat my food 🤣. This has to be a joke.

It’s not bad, very pricey for the very limited menu. Service was decent, but it just feels like it’s a bit rundown. No live music, but there is a stage, limited outdoor seating, overall just ok.

We ate and drank here because we had Hilton F&B credit to use and it was an okay experience. Food is way overpriced for the quantity you receive, and the taste was better than I was expecting. We got the fish tacos and Cuban and chicken wings. The biggest issue with the food is the that it was brought to us hardly warm. Bill for one food item each and one drink each (3 of us) was $128 including tip. The plusses: had a live duo performing. Indoor or outdoor seating. Although low staffed, the servers were incredibly efficient.

Relaxing place to get a small bite and drinks. We quickly found a table on their patio as everything inside was taken. Fortunately the weather was not too hot and there was some shade from umbrellas and trees. The service was good, but food just OK. We timed it right to see a great sunset just before we left. Prices are typical for Hawaii.

The waiter, Victor, was great, attentive, and quick. A friendly guy. The mahi mahi tacos were tasty, but the tortillas were cold. The pork sliders were fine, my wife said; and the kettle chips served with were tasty. I do have to say, however, that an Old Fashioned is supposed to have a Luxardo Cherry in it, and this one did not. Good for a late quick bite and some energetic music. :-)

Casual restaurant at the Hilton Waikoloa village which opens at 4:30 pm. There was a small but nice outdoor patio outside and an island, bar-style atmosphere inside. Table service was friendly enough. We had the chicken wings, poke nachos, and fries. The wings were pretty good but the poke nachos were a little off. An ok place to grab a beer or drink before or after dinner but I wouldn’t recommend making plans to eat here unless your strapped for places to go.
