Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel Beach Bar
About
Sip Beside the Pacific Sands
Steps away from the golden expanse of Hapuna Beach, this open-air bar serves as the ultimate vantage point for watching the Waikoloa sunset. You aren't just getting a cocktail here; you are hearing the rhythmic, heavy crash of the Pacific against the volcanic shoreline, a sound that dominates the space. The salt-misted breeze carries the scent of coconut sunscreen and fresh-muddled lime from the bar.
Casual Island Refreshments
The menu leans heavily into classic tropical refreshments. You will find standard resort staples like fresh fruit mai tais and local Kona Brewing Co. craft beers on tap. It is the kind of place where sandy flip-flops are the preferred footwear and the primary goal is finding a shaded stool as the heat of the afternoon peaks. While the service can occasionally slow down when the hotel is at full capacity, the panoramic view of the Kohala Coast compensates for the wait.
Perfect for Post-Swim Relaxation
This spot is ideal for those who have spent their morning battling the waves and need a place to reset without leaving the beach property. Since the bar is integrated into the wider resort infrastructure, it offers a transition from the wild, rugged beauty of the shoreline to the manicured, upscale comfort of the Prince Resort grounds. Be prepared for a walk back up the path, as the incline from the sand to the bar area catches many visitors by surprise after a few rounds of island-inspired drinks.

This place is over the top! Service A+, GORGEOUS views. I think all rooms are ocean facing, some just closer or higher. So quiet at night and you can see lots of stars. Nice gentle beach. Luxury rooms. Only complaint there was a 6.0 earthquake! Haha

The Westin Hapuna Beach Resort delivers exactly what you hope for in a Big Island getaway: direct access to one of the most beautiful white-sand beaches in Hawaii. Hapuna Beach is consistently ranked among the best in the U.S., and staying here means you're steps away from soft golden sand, calm turquoise waters (perfect for swimming or body-boarding), and breathtaking sunsets. There is a short trail alongside the beachfront to the right of Hapuna Beach... a worthwhile short stroll on the rocks. The resort itself feels open, airy, and relaxing. The lobby is dramatic with sweeping ocean views, and the two pools are highlights — a large family-friendly freeform pool and a serene adults-only infinity pool overlooking the beach. Rooms are spacious (even entry-level ones comfortably fit a family of four), modern, and most offer private lanais with ocean or partial ocean views. Service is mostly warm and attentive, especially from the front desk and pool staff. We were welcomed with drinks and towels. We loved the convenience of on-site amenities, however didn't try any of the activities and cultural events. What we loved most: - The unbeatable beach location and views - Spacious, clean rooms - Peaceful, laid-back vibe ideal for relaxation - Easy access to snorkeling right off the beach

This place was like a dream! The warmed toilet seat, top tier bidet, spacious bathroom with soaking tub separate from shower, dual sinks made this bathroom a welcome respite after a day of hiking and body surfing! The open air element of this place with areas to sit or swing and watch the sunset each night while listening to live music gave it a dreamy quality! The way the lighting reflected off the koi fish pond at night looking like stars. The poke bowl from the grab and go was fresh and delicious. The oven fired pizza was yummy with a glass of locally brewed beer on tap. Room was spacious, clean, lovely AND there was an adorably friend orange cat the greeted up on the patio daily😻.

Real pros and cons here! We had stayed at the Hapuna many times when it was a Prince property. Amazing setting on the best beach. The building is solid so the rooms are pretty quiet, but it was run down, so we were very excited to go back …

Nice overall. It was a quieter time on the island and so maybe that helped, but easy at the hotel to get beach and pool chairs, etc. The lobby area is fairly dramatic with a view down to the beach. It is sort of odd that there is such a tiny bar (maybe 10 tables) in that space. Surprising that a company as sophisticated as Marriott hasn't done anything to improve use of the space and create a better spot for people to gather. There was live music which was nice, but not sufficient to attract more than a few people. The hotel has a $40 plus tax parking charge even for self parking, which is way too high given the cost of rooms to begin with.

I can recommend this hotel. There are a lot of extra fees that you have to pay for example 37$ per day for a resort fee and 35$ per day if you want to park your car. So for 4 nights we ended up paying almost 400 dollars at the check out …

An overall extraordinary experience! The service is really top notch, location and resort are perfect, amenities are excellent, beach is beautiful, and the adult pool is serene and enjoyable. We enjoyed the buffet every morning of our stay; Chef Charlie, the manager, and our server were understanding of and knowledgeable about food allergies and accomodated us so our party could eat safely. Manager Kacy and Chef Jorge at Naupaka Grill also went above and beyond to ensure meals that accomodated our food allergies. Jennifer at the front desk not only went above and beyond looking for a package we were waiting on, she was also helpful when we called in the middle of the night after the 5.9 earthquake hit, reassuring us all was okay and not to worry. The laundry facilities are a nice touch which we definitely took advantage of. The Westin Hapuna is a beautiful, quiet resort, and we look forward to visiting again soon. Mahalo to the Hapuna staff!
