Slurping Near the Kona Coffee Belt

Tucked away along the main thoroughfare of Kainaliu, TK Noodle House offers a no-frills, authentic approach to comfort food that feels like a for locals driving through Kealakekua. The atmosphere is strictly functional—bright, open, and focused entirely on the steam rising from oversized bowls rather than aesthetic flourishes.

The menu centers on robust, savory broth-based dishes. You will notice the rich, deep scent of star anise and ginger hitting you the moment you slide through the door. Their signature beef pho is the clear standout, featuring a clean, aromatic bone broth that warms you up even on the most humid Big Island afternoons. The noodles are consistently cooked to a perfect, toothsome bite, and the portion sizes are substantial enough to sustain you after a morning of exploring the nearby historical sites.

Be prepared for a casual experience where the focus is strictly on the bowl in front of you. While the parking lot can get a bit tight during the peak lunch hour when commuters from the surrounding coffee farms stop in, the quick service keeps the turnover steady. It is the ideal stop for anyone craving a straightforward, hearty lunch without the typical resort-area price tag. You will hear the clatter of ceramic spoons against bowls and the quiet hum of conversations, making it an honest, unpretentious slice of North Kona dining culture.

Can’t wait to try more!!! We stopped in for mochi donuts but it was hard to say no to all the delicious-looking food. The donuts were absolutely amazing, both the flavors AND the presentation! My daughter ordered s’mores and I got glazed but they made a mistake and gave us cookies and cream and just left it in the box for us. Sweet bonus! My husband and sons were so jealous they missed out so we will definitely be coming back! Yeah—we were so mean and absolutely ate the extra donut and didn’t save any for them LOL

Bingsu fruit quality was good but ice to fruit ratio was off (too much fruits/sauce vs shaved ice thus too sweet compared to the innumerable other bingsu's I've had in the tri-state/mainland area). Ice was also not shaved as fine in comparison. But what really drove my low review was the terrible customer service. Took multiple tries for front register to understand and take my order. Then it took another 45+ mins for my bingsu to come out, during which there was nothing complimentary to compensate for my lost time (sorry to sound entitled but it was FORTY FIVE MINS!! Of my whole family's time!!). My order was changed 3x after I ordered - I ordered strawberry matcha and after 10+ mins was told strawberry "isn't coming out as expected", then I said mango matcha was fine and was told 5? 10? Minutes later they don't have mango. Finally I said fine pineapple works and ultimately that's what I got another 25 mins later, but even then they made a pineapple not pineapple matcha but by then I couldn't be bothered to complain since it was already an hour in and I was rushing for a flight (which I barely made in time btw, last to board after gunning it with hubby and 2 young kids in tow). The ladies at the table next to us who ordered right after us also waited 45+minutes for a small bingsu; they were also visibly annoyed. Tteok-bokki was not spicy at all (my 4yo ate it when she has zero tolerance for heat) which was disappointing. I'm sorry to have to leave a negative review since I really wanted to support a fellow Asian, but my mind was really blown by how terrible the experience was and nothing was proactively done to try and make it better for its customers.

Love this local place. Drinks are good and food is good. Got the Malasadas and the filling was good. Wish it was made fresh though. The matcha is really good since they use ceremonial grade

Great spot for lunch! We had bim bap, beef bowl, bingsu and Ube matcha latte. We enjoyed everything, flavors were good! The staff was great! I would definitely visit again if I’m in the Big Island. Price of items were decent.

I had the spicy pork cubbap bowl with garlic spinach , and a Tiramisu mochi donut. It was delicious. The shop is spotlessly clean, and the treats look amazing. The staff were friendly and even offered me a sample for the spice level. Prices were fair for Kailua-Kona A new neighborhood favorite, looking forward to trying the rest of the menu.

Tried the spicy pork kimbap and it was delicious. Also tried the bulgogi bowl but it was a little too sweet for my taste. The cucumber kimchi was good though. Wish they made a tuna and kimchi kimbap too!
