About
A Slice of Old Hawaii
Perched above the rugged Kona coastline, The Hi-dive Bar is where the pace of life slows to the rhythm of the Pacific. This isn't your polished resort lounge; it’s a rugged, authentic watering hole that captures the salt-of-the-earth spirit of Kealakekua. When you walk in, the first thing that hits you is the scent of sea air mixing with the faint, savory aroma of local bar bites, accompanied by the low hum of conversation from long-time residents and curious travelers alike.
The Tropical Pour
The menu focuses on what the Big Island does best: cold brews and tropical-leaning cocktails. The vibe leans heavy into that open-air island architecture where the lines between the interior stools and the view of the horizon start to blur. It is a fantastic spot to wash down a long day of snorkeling or coffee farm hopping. Just keep in mind that the local crowd can turn this small space into a high-energy room by nightfall, and the narrow hillside parking requires a bit of patience.
Why Kealakekua Locals Love It
This spot thrives because it feels genuine. There are no gimmicks here—just a clear view of the sunset and a team that knows your name after a single round. Whether you are hunkering down in the corner to watch the game or perched at the bar trading stories, the atmosphere remains consistently grounded. It’s an ideal setting for anyone looking to ditch the tourist traps and experience a authentic slice of Kona culture where the drinks are poured generously and the shadows grow long across the wooden floorboards as evening rolls in.

Great little hole-in-the-wall bar, and actually nicer inside than the name implies. No food here, just nicely poured drinks. Jenna and her feline Sake are great. Nice lanai out back with a dart board and board games. Great place to chill and enjoy a sunset.

What a hidden gem. Not sure who owns it now but what a difference. It's a breath of fresh air. The screened in back patio is perfect for a relaxing evening but the people running the bar are doing a great job.

I walked in not knowing what to expect. As soon as I saw the board games right by the entrance I knew it was going to be a good night. The service was incredible and I was incredibly surprised by the quality of the hot dogs. Our server toasted the buns with so much love. Now I just want to go back for more love and more buns. 10/10 would recommend.

Such a hidden gem with the sweetest owner. Don’t let the name hi “dive bar” stop you. It’s more like a chill lounge with a great huge back patio. Plus the adorable kittens is a huge plus.
