June 5 2026 @ 3:30pm curbside lady don’t know what in the world she’s doing( local lady) try to blame it on the app and made it look like my fault. Seriously I been using the curbside app since it started. Own up to your mistake that you don’t know how to read your gadget. Plus I’m talking and you started talking to other people that was parking lot. Incompetent person do not work on this kind of line if you don’t know simple common sense. If this lady is a supervisor or manager she should be ashamed of herself. I’m sorry for this store that they hired this kind of worker. To manager please assign someone else to do this job. Put that lady somewhere in the back stock room where no one else would find her.

You know, even though Safeway is kinda wordly, I think this Safeway has a definate home feel! Service is excellent! Go visit and experience it all! Aloha! Re:update! Safeway in Hilo (to me) has kinda the most awesome customer service and it reflects on the management team as they all show compassion and empathy with the utmost willingness to help!! Go check the guys by the meat and seafood department! Laughing and cutting and listening to customers and making everyone feel right "at home"!! Best selection of meats, including the Lamb! You can get such a wide selection of beautiful Lamb Chops, Ground Lamb, Lamb Shanks, Lamb Roast, and beautiful Rack Of Lamb! I also enjoy their wide selection of Local Angus Beef! It’s my first stop before I go anywhere else to find meats. Especially because they almost always have what I want in the meat department, and they’re always interested in making sure that they carry what I come there for. I’ve never gotten that at any other Butchered Meat Department, unless going to the specialty stand alone Butcher Shops. Highly recommend Safeway Maka’ala for selection of fresh meats!

We Bought there 5$ fried chicken deal on Friday May 8, Was a good deal, but after we eat it for lunch, we had a tummy ache. Must not be prepared properly or could be the oil needs to be changed. We throw it out the rest.😔 …

Good store. Don’t go too late the pack up the fish counter early. Make sure you get the Club Card to save $$$. You have to get a US Safeway card for free. You Canadian one doesn’t work

There are good deals at times & you need to click the coupons in the app & as with ALL stores double check your receipts & make sure the cashier removes instant coupons on products as I was overcharged tho greatfull I was refunded! All stores are banking that you don't recheck your receipts. You'll be very surprised how stores are using various marketing strategies! Of course you know of going into the store only to exit with with more stuff that you needed to buy! Though selection and flavor of products pretty good! On the other hand large selections can lead to choice mental fatigue!

I have been shopping at Safeway for over forty years. I have seen Safeway constantly evolve to make shopping there more convinant and so many more choices. I have been shopping at the Hilo, Hawaii location for 7 years. Thank you Safeway for always making my shopping experience so nice. Thank you to the staff for always being so helpful.
