Prices have gone up but the plate of (8) huge garlic shrimp is incredible! Delicious 😋 and the service is excellent!

The garlic shrimp was amazing! The ube potato salad was also really tasty. The food came out quickly and the lady at the counter was really helpful. She made several suggestions as to what to try, showed us the food before we walked away to verify we got what we ordered, and made sure we had any extras we needed.

We got the hurricane shrimp from here. The shrimp were delicious. Not disgustingly fried. Loved the purple sweet potatoes with the tangy salata over boiled white rice. I’d probably ask for more sauce over the rice to help palate but that’s a critique for all boiled white rice staple meals on the Island. When we were in Hilo we wanted to find a place but had a hard time choosing. We settled here. Not going to lie, it’s not a touristy spot, doesn’t have the glitz and glamour of some other spots on the Island - but it gets the job done. If you’re in the area, stop by.

I'm glad I stopped by here!! I ordered Hurricane Shrimp and Steak with Macaroni Salad, Sweet Potato, and Broccoli on the side. I absolutely loved the Hurricane Shrimp with Furikake on top of it! Also Sweet Potato was super good!

My sister took me here - Omgoodness! It’s the WAYLON SPECIAL ALL THE WAY!!! Locals know this place - Do you? Amazingly awesome food especially the Garlic Shrimp. The staff is so funny They got me good lol! Anyway I TOTALLY RECOMMEND This small restaurant in the food court by the Walmart. Excellent food and atmosphere. Excellent cooking by the Chefs there so go and Get Some at the Hawaiian Shrimp Company! Tourist this is at Waiākea Center Food Court. EAT HERE!

THIS IS THE SPOT!!!! If you’re a shrimp connoisseur this will be your new spot!!! The Hurricane shrimp as so fire🔥!!! Even if you just kinda like shrimp you will not be disappointed! Everything is amazing! Don’t forget the sides,the onions and tomatoes, best palet cleanser so you get every flavor of the shrimp! Violet and crew are genuinely nice and super amazing. Will be eating here several time a week! When you look up Famous Hawaiian Shrimp this should be the first spot that comes up!

Hawaiian Shrimp Co. in Hilo is a fantastic spot for fresh, flavorful seafood. The dishes are seasoned just right – never heavy – and the portions are generous, making it great value as well. The garlic shrimp is an absolute must-try: perfectly cooked, aromatic, and packed with flavor. The fried calamari is another standout – light, crisp, and clearly fresh. What really sets this place apart is the service. Violet and her crew go above and beyond with genuine care. They even shared their house special hot sauce for us to try with the calamari, which was outstanding. On top of that, Violet thoughtfully packed our food with extra care, knowing we had a long drive from Hilo all the way to Kona. This is more than just a meal – it’s an experience of Hawaiian hospitality paired with excellent seafood. Highly recommended.

Food was good but no green onion on my chicken and my other half says shrimp is well done. They forgot furikake on my to go fries last time but still a great option to eat at the food court.

New management is ALL about 5 star service and making sure you're happy. Garlic shrimp is bomb! Still gotta try their other stuff, but been too addicted to stray. Ha! Dining area is pretty cool. Reminds of a throwback to being in an '80s mall food court. I wanna throw on a jean jacket. One critique, and it's all good, but wish they offered a peeled shrimp versions of their offerings. But hey, that's just the ha'ole in me showing. Ha! General manager pictured. She is a doll, helpful, and super proud of the business... and it shows!
