About
Slurp Your Way Through Downtown Hilo
When the tropical humidity sets in and you are craving something deep, savory, and restorative, Antics Ramen delivers the kind of comfort that Hilo locals depend on. Tucked away in the historic heart of the city, this spot bypasses the pretension of modern fusion joints in favor of traditional, punchy broths that coat the spoon.
The Ritual of the Bowl
The kitchen leans heavily into the craft of a long-simmered Tonkotsu. The broth is cloudy, rich, and carries a distinct creaminess that clings to the firm, springy noodles. If you lean toward something lighter, their shoyu-based options offer a clear, salty bite that cuts through the island heat. The scent of roasted garlic and ginger oil greets you the moment the sliding door opens, instantly grounding you in a space built for quick, focused meals.
An Unapologetic Atmosphere
Antics isn't interested in being your quiet library workspace. The space is vibrant, often filled with the clatter of porcelain and the high-energy chatter of the Hilo community during lunch breaks. It is small, which means finding a seat can occasionally feel like a game of musical chairs during peak hours, but that proximity to other diners only adds to the authentic ramen-ya energy. You are here for the steam rising off your bowl and the snap of fresh green onions, not for a prolonged, quiet conversation. Whether you are grabbing a quick solo bowl or fueling up after a day of exploring the Big Island’s windward coast, this is the essential destination for those who prioritize flavor integrity over fancy decor.

Amazing pizza place. It tastes really good with crispy pizza dough like New York style. Staff is kind and vibe is sick. For 3 people, 16inch is recommended. Good thing is that you can customize the pizza.

Fun place! The pizza was pretty good. The games were fun. The console at the first table we sat at didn’t work, but it wasn’t very busy so we moved to another table.

So glad we found this place. Atmosphere was very fun and unique with individual gaming stations at each table. Good tunes and amazing pizza. Garlic knots were a bit bland for my taste but the pizza is divine ans great service!

I’m an 80s baby and this place brought me back to my childhood. Every table except the center of the room has game stations you can play on from NES to PS5. Food was fresh and there wasn’t an item that we ordered, we didn’t like. On top of all that the service was outstanding. Only thing that made me sad was that they didn’t serve ramen everyday, only one weekend a month. Aside from that, I will definitely be coming back and recommending this placing to everyone.

Very friendly and good food. I think they must prioritize carry-out over dine-in customers because we were seated (after a short wait on a Sunday evening) and waited several minutes for someone to take our order. Then we waited close to an hour before our food came out. They were apologetic, but that's a long time to wait, especially when you see folks walking in and leaving with pizzas dozens of times while you sit there. Just a little warning it's going to be that long would be appreciated, especially when there's a sign saying you can't occupy a table more than an hour and 15 minutes. But the pizza was good. We especially liked the Cinnamon-Sugar Daddies (cinnamon & sugar dusted pizza dough knots served with icing). Appreciated they were careful with a gluten-free (celiac) order as well.
