Excellent local fresh fish tacos! We also ate outside where they had a bar for eating facing the ocean view. The host was very friendly.

Great fish tacos in Big Island, the sauces the put on tacos and the veggies in were very nice. Wish i could have tried other Tacos but portion is big so couldn’t try other. Must visit if you are in Big Island.

Fast, friendly, and fresh, these are some rockin tacos. Tried a variety, the fish with the verde was hands down my favorite. Loved all the toppings they used, would for sure go back!

Quick stop and worth it. I had the steak tacos with cheesy tortilla. Very happy with my choice. Nice having a bit of cheesy crisp to each bite. Loads of flavor and juicy. Come check 'em out.

Ok, food is decent. The mango chili sauce is amazing. The food is ok, but not the best. let’s be honest the captain cook spot is just a seating area for the food truck. Limited parking but that’s ok, it’s on an island. The flavors of the fish and carne are hidden by the other flavors like mango, pickled onions, etc. I’m a firm believer that the food should stand on its own without the sauces. I’d recommend it for sure but I wouldn’t praise it the way some of those who recommended it to us. All in all, there is Aloha in their cooking and service. And it is worth checking out. But don’t just take my word for it. Try it yourself

This is a must visit. If you can’t make it to this location, then try the food truck in Ali’i Marketplace. Just Wow. I really thought that I probably would not be a fan of the balsamic slaw but once I bit into the Ono Fish Taco, OMG!! The pickled onions with the slaw and a hearty piece of fish and then the mango salsa and lime juice, are just amazing. We had the Ono fish tacos and the carne asada quesadilla. We split them and could only finish half the quesadilla, which we took home for breakfast the next day. Chili verde salsa is the bomb. BYOB, no problem, Mon!

Shaka Tacoz was such a great find 🌮 As someone who needs both vegan and gluten free options, I felt completely taken care of. They had plenty of choices that didn’t feel like an afterthought. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully prepared. What really stood out was the customer service. The staff was incredibly attentive and genuinely cared about making sure my gluten allergy was taken seriously. They double checked ingredients, answered all my questions, and made me feel totally at ease ordering. It’s not always easy to find places that meet both dietary needs and offer great service, but Shaka Tacoz absolutely delivers. I will definitely be back!

Stopped by and ended up back the next day. Large portions that fills you up. Carne quesadilla was delicious and large enough to fill the whole plate. 3 tacos platter allowed us to try the fish, pork, and deer. All tasty with pickled red onions that were a sweet acid crunch of beautifully made product. The various hot sauces were fun to try: mango chili was a favorite, guava ginger very guava sweet with the ghost pepper hitting just a touch at the end (I'm a spice wimp but still liked this one).

This was a great place to stop while traveling south from Kona. It is right off the main road. Had both locals and tourists in it and fairly busy. We got the fish tacos and they were fantastic. The tacos are made outside. Lots of flavor and garnished perfectly. They have an outside seating area in the back that gives some gorgeous views of the ocean. Laid back location. Definitely worth a stop if you need a quick bite.

The Location: This is the perfect stop if you are driving back from a Kona coffee farm tour. ​Parking: Be aware that parking is limited, but we were able to find a spot right in front of the restaurant off the highway. ​Facilities: A pleasant surprise was the restroom, which was notably clean (always a huge plus on a road trip!). ​The Food: ​Fish Taco: I tried the fish taco and it was delicious—fresh and flavorful. ​Quesadilla: The quesadilla was also excellent. ​Service: The staff was friendly and welcoming, keeping the line moving despite how popular it is. ​Verdict: If you are touring the coffee belt, this is the place to eat. Great food, clean facilities, and a friendly vibe.
