Sooooo authentic. Mom and pops type place with AMAZING homemade food. We got the all in. It was a little bit of everything on the menu. Highly recommend. Jaye is incredible. Add this to your list. It’s a must!

We stopped here last week on a whim on our way down the coast, and I’m so glad we did! The portions are large and the flavor is absolutely delicious. Two people can easily share a plate, the girl behind the counter was so friendly and explained all the dishes gladly. The atmosphere was relaxed and homey, definitely a must stop for Hawaiian food. We had the pork lau lau (my favorite), the pastele (a close second) and the Kalua pork with cabbage (you must add the spicy orange vinegar!). I only wish we had room for dessert, they had some really delicious looking ones on display. 100% would go back!

A hidden gem on our roadtrip in the Big Island! I have never had laulau before and it’s super tasty. The restaurant is very well kept and clean. The food really makes me feel like home. I also dig the family owned small business energy - they decorate the place with lots of their family pictures! Highly recommend everyone to check it out when they are road tripping in the Big Island.

Easily the BEST food I’ve had on the Big Island. Like… not even close. I’ll be honest, at first glance it didn’t look like something I’d usually go for, but I trusted the women working there and WOW. Every single bite was incredible, and once you start mixing everything with the sides, the flavors just hit on another level. The mac salad? Best on the island. The pork lau lau? So flavorful and comforting. Everything tastes homemade, fresh, and made with so much care. And the women there are the sweetest, most welcoming people. It genuinely feels like you’re being served by family. This place is small, local, and 100% worth it. Skip the tourist spots. If you’re on the Big Island, you NEED to eat here.

On a local’s recommendation, we came by for authentic Hawaiian fare, and we were not disappointed. From the moment we stepped up to the counter, we were greeted by one of the J’s in the most warm and welcoming manner than ever. She was so nice and patient in explaining all the different sauces they offer and how to use them. The two of us did what many do: we split a 3 combo plate, and had a chicken laulau, pork laulau, and the kalua pig and cabbage. We probably go against the grain of others’ reviews, but we liked the chicken laulau the best, then the pork/cabbage, then the pork laulau. Don’t get us wrong, they were all EXCELLENT, and we are glad we ordered what we did. The seating is family style, and when we arrived it was pretty crowded so we had to politely hover to get a couple of seats to share our plate. On the tables, they have utensils, napkins, share plates, and sauces. Each dining group didn’t have their own set of sauces — those were shared across the entire family style table, so you have to be a little bold to ask your dining neighbors for a sauce that you want. The homemade teriyaki was an excellent addition to all the dishes, and the macaroni salad side was also yummy. For two people, at $22 this was a great deal for a great meal and overall experience. We were quite full at the end.
