Zippy's - Mililani (Meheula Pkwy)
About
A Taste of Hawaii's Comfort Culture
When you walk into Zippy's in the heart of Mililani, you are greeted by the hum of local life—the clinking of ceramic plates, the murmur of neighbors catching up, and that unmistakable aroma of simmering chili that has defined local dining for generations. This isn't a place for white-tablecloth pretense; it is a reliable hub for Central Oahu residents looking for consistency.
The Chili Legacy
The star of the show remains the signature Zippy's Chili. Whether you prefer it over a bed of fluffy white rice, served with a side of crispy cheese, or as the base for their famous Chili Loco Moco, the recipe remains a staple of the Hawaiian culinary identity. Beyond the chili, the menu is a sprawling collection of local favorites, from Korean Fried Chicken to Zip Min—the ultimate soul-warming noodle soup. It is the kind of food that tastes like home, even if you are just passing through the Mililani Mauka area.
The Local Rhythm
The atmosphere leans toward the practical and communal. You will notice the high-backed booths that offer just enough privacy for a quick business lunch or a post-soccer practice meal with the family. Be prepared for a bit of a scramble during peak hours; the parking lot can get tight as the lunch rush hits, and the energetic staff works hard to keep the queue moving. It is busy, occasionally noisy, and perpetually authentic, making it an essential stop for anyone wanting to experience the real, day-to-day eating habits of Mililani locals.

I enjoy the sweet and sour spareribs and order it occassionally when available but will no longer do so because today's order was at least 30% smaller than previous orders. I already reduced my orders from Zippys because the old staples like chili and beef stew have less of ingredients and don't taste as good. Now it's even worse with reduced portion sizes. Got a response from Zippys offering a voucher for future purchase. I just told them to be a local company that offers "quality value", I don't think they're going to accept that challenge. UPDATE: I'm giving another star based on recent order. Had to try the $10 "deal" on chill frank. It actually was decent in quantity and quality with noticeable improvement in the chili with actual ground hamburger pieces you could see. Hopefully, they're getting the message from fed-up consumers that places that reduce portions and quality will not be tolerated anymore.

Wun Tun Min is so bland, the broth is just brown water. Fries are cold. Why are we just letting food sit at the kitchen and waiting for the whole order when we're sitting up front. Also turn the damn A/C on , hot as outside.

I had an 11$ benefit coupon to get a “Zippys famous chili meal” and i ordered it, on the reciept it said i only used 6$ meaning i didnt get to use the other 5. I waited 20 minutes and all they gave me was a container of just chili no rice or anything. Also, as my order was being prepared i saw they kept the chili in a hot plastic bag meaning microplastics were being marinated into the chili. The fact it took 20 minutes also made me tardy for school. I did not want to ask for rice because im introverted and am not trying to argue that i should get rice with my order that i was entitled to get. This experience ruined my day and im never going to order from zippys again.

Food is awesome when it's available. I'm referring to online ordering the daily specials. One i particular is the Roast Turkey with stuffing. Always out before dinner time. Other food options are good but when you've had Curry and chicken katsu quite a bit, would like something different and refreshing. Wish they would have more supply of the Turkey and stuffing

We got a food plate of Korean fried chicken which was good and then we got the mushroom burger. The burger was dry, had unsauteed mushrooms, no sauce. Base price $6.80, To add anything to it was extra $. We paid $10 total. So would not recommend the burgers.

Arrived in Honolulu after midnight and we were hungry so we decided to get food from Zippy’s in Mililani. They closed at 2 am. It was slow so service was great and we received our food within 15 minutes. The food was delicious. Want a midnight snack go to Zippy’s in Mililani.

Not bad but also not great. I saw we got 2 different plates and they were good but not like its a most to eat. Their menu its pretty intense, perhaps they have something tastier than what we ordered.

This has always been one of my favorite local franchise restaurants, but it’s only four stars now because I’m saddened that inflation has affected the prices of this place so much, which I understand is out of their control. But I digress, everything else is spectacular. The food portions are huge, the bakery has an extensive selection, and the customer service and ease of online ordering and pick up is top notch. The fried chicken options, from katsu chicken, or Korean fried chicken are always delicious, perfectly crisp, hearty portions and side of macaroni salad ties the whole meal together. Their world class chili is also to die for. I’ve tried replicating the recipe myself to no avail. The Keiki macaroni and cheese isn’t anything special, just your simple box Kraft Mac and cheese, but my son had no complaints as that is his favorite kind anyways. The bakery from the cakes, pastries, donuts, are all delicious and some products have their own unique local Hawaiian flare. Ranging from guava, lilikoi, or ube, the bakery section has something for everyone. Sometimes the food does take a while because everything is made to order for the most part, so take advantage of their online ordering tool. You just place the order and they will have it ready for pick up in the lockers, which you will have access via your phone to unlock, to prevent theft of your delicious meal.
