About
A Neighborhood Staple for Mililani Locals
Tucked away in the quiet corners of Mililani, Hillside Market functions as the go-to spot for residents seeking a quick, no-fuss meal without the commercialized chaos of larger shopping centers. It captures the quintessential feel of a neighborhood deli where the staff likely knows your name if you stop by often enough.
The Flavor of the Island
The menu leans heavily into local comfort favorites. Expect generous portions of plate lunches that hit the spot after a long day of navigating Central Oahu traffic. The kitchen excels at traditional staples like crispy katsu, savory furikake chicken, and fresh poke that relies on daily fish shipments rather than fancy plating. You will smell the familiar, comforting scent of steamed white rice and teriyaki glaze the moment you step through the door.
Practical Dining Notes
The aesthetic is purely utilitarian—this is a place for grabbing a takeaway box to enjoy at a nearby park or back at your desk. While the interior is sparse, the efficiency is unmatched. Just a heads-up for those driving in: the parking lot can get remarkably tight during the standard lunch hour rush, so keep an eye out for maneuvering commuters. It is an ideal stop for anyone working in the area or locals looking for an unpretentious, authentic meal that prioritizes substance over style.

It's an old favorite of ours from back when I used to live in Mililani. We still go there occasionally and they are still serving up our favorite pork katsu and pork cutlet.

I love the service that they provide. No matter how busy, every time I come in they always have a smile on their face!!! And I know a lot of times people go off the servers tone of voice, they always have a happy tone to it. You never know what kind of day a person is having so a happy calm tone of voice is always good to hear!! I really enjoy the food here. I need to start ordering a head when I’m on my break though lol. The inside always brings nostalgia and I love it!

We ordered their award winning fried noodles and it was an enormous disappointment. It was just a big mound of tasteless noodles barely any cabbage mixed in and sprinkled on top was a few slices of meat and eggs. I was to embarrassed to serve it at our party so I put it in zip locks so we could re fry it to our on way instead of wasting it.

Food tastes great I just didn't like that the katsu was cut in half, I'm sure that the regular wouldn't be bite sized pieces, however it was good, another note, is that the katsu sauce is packaged which tells me it's not made but store bought.

The price and value you can not beat. This local gem known by many residents is a must go when you're in the area. No matter what you're craving, there is something on the menu for everybody. Very friendly staff both front of house and kitchen. Clean dining area with a lot of table seating.

An outstanding Mililani staple. This is definitely a very local place, but don't feel shy about coming in. The food is outstanding and the service is great. There's lots on the menu so be sure to look it all over. They're known for their fried saimin, I got some with Teri beef and I was not disappointed. The portion size for $11 was great. I'll definitely be back!

Ok.. first off.. the staff here are amazing! They are extremely friendly, great personality and humorous. When you walk in, you just feel welcomed! Place was extremely busy when I arrived. It looked like I was just missing the lunch rush. There was only 1 table left for seating. This first visit, I ordered fish & chips, bento, chicken katsu, fried saimin and I think it was called 7 layer jello. Now this fish & chips were delicious. The batter was light and golden. The fish was flakey and moist. It was perfection. Fries were a bit overcooked for my preference, however I ordered a cup of gravy that just made it amazing. The fish and teri beef was the star for the bento. I really didn't care for their chicken katsu. Their fried saimin was decent. You can taste that they make their own noodles. I'd say it in my top 5 of best fried noodles I've had. All in all, it was a great first experience and I look forward to coming here again!

One of my favorite lunch spots in Mililani. Fast and friendly service, and amazing portions! The only downside to my order was that I tried the hamburger steak for the first time… it will probably be the last time 😞. It was a let down… but I had the fried noodles instead of rice 2.50 charge so that made it a little better😕. My wife had the beef stew and that is my usual choice.

I ordered the shoyu chicken, fries, and Portuguese sausage fried rice, came out about $30+. Okay, why is it 4 stars? I didn't realize the shoyu chicken came out like what's pictured (see photo). I was disappointed and probably won't order it anymore lol like I said, I didn't expect it to be like that, I was used to seeing shoyu chicken cooked differently. Maybe they need to change the name of that dish lol other than that, everything else was delicious. Yes, the shoyu chicken I ordered tasted good though, so I'll give points for that. Anyways, see photos for more information. They accept all kine payments; temperature check is required if you're dining in (I think, may have to double check on that, although you will need to be tracked if dining in, in case whatever happens from Covid). As there were dine in tables with social distancing enforced. There is an only $.52 refill and plenty parking. No bathroom and no outside food allowed. Ask for utensils, etc.. if taking out, it's the law.
