New Genki Ramen
About
A Slurp-Worthy Stop in Central Oahu
Tucked away in the bustling Mililani Shopping Center, New Genki Ramen serves as a straightforward, no-frills destination for those craving a hot bowl of noodles after a long day. The atmosphere here is quintessential neighborhood eatery—efficient, bustling, and unpretentious. It is the kind of place where the sound of sliding chairs and the rhythmic clinking of ceramic bowls against wooden counters creates a familiar, comforting soundtrack.
The Flavor Profile
The menu leans heavily into traditional Japanese staples, with their tonkotsu broth acting as a reliable centerpiece. The kitchen focuses on a creamy, pork-based stock that coats the noodles thoroughly, often accompanied by classic toppings like tender chashu pork, bamboo shoots, and perfectly marinated soft-boiled eggs with jammy, golden yolks. You will also find a variety of gyoza that hit the table with a satisfying crunch, providing a necessary textural contrast to the soft, chewy alkaline noodles.
Local Insights
If you are planning a visit, keep in mind that the dining space is compact. During the peak lunch rush, the room fills up quickly, making it a hotspot for residents grabbing a quick bite during their break. While the parking lot can get congested given its central location in the district, the quick turnover makes it easy to snag a spot if you are patient. It is an ideal spot for solo diners or small groups looking for an uncomplicated meal that emphasizes savory, umami-rich flavors over fancy presentation. The service is brisk, prioritizing getting steaming bowls out of the kitchen and onto your table while the broth is at its optimal temperature.

MY food was great, I got the shrimp curry tempura... my husband got the Chicken Katsu chicken and it had pink on the inside and he was like "Health Hazard" there is a level of pink that is safe so its probably safe since this place is popular from what I have heard :3 XD (I do honestly think we just got unlucky with his chicken... my food was delicious XD)

I honestly love this place! I remember first time I came here there was a bit more stay so less of a wait. Tonight, I came with my 3 daughters and husband. They were very accommodating of my girls and upon getting there they offered a high chair for my youngest child. I got the spicy seafood ramen (I took the picture after having a few bites, oops) and my husband also had ramen but I forgot the name of it. We were both very impressed by the portion sizes! I can usually finish my ramen, but i was so full halfway through. My husband ended up finishing his, but he was full as well! My oldest loved the plain ramen with noodles they made for our girls. This was one of the only times I have seen her finish the bowl along with the brother, and ask for more! Not a lot else for keiki, but again, they were accommodating and we asked for 2 small bowls which helped us allow the youngest girls to try ramen. Now, I give 5 stars because the food was great, and even being short staffed the service was good too. I will forewarn that if you are in a rush, this place would probably not be good for you. I only say this because we saw one guy working register, taking orders, rending tables, and making the takeout. Then there was the one cook in the back. They are a great team, because I was being nosy and saw the huge order they made, while they still had our ramen out in a decent time. However, this did cause a little bit of a delay in the beginning. Once things slowed down, they had a good rhythm, and we were very well taken care of. I dont want to assume this establishment is family owned, but it could be with how short staffed they are. Anyways, if you want lots of noodles, and enjoy a cute hole in the wall, then I highly recommend! Make sure you check wait times if you're in a rush, and ask for little bowls for your keiki if they're tagging along. :)

First time here and we did not have a good experience. BE AWARE AND REMEMBER TO CHECK YOUR RECEIPT. They charge you a “service charge” without telling you. So you might tip on top. If you plan on eating together, this is not the place. They send out the order as it’s made. The first order came in 5-10 minutes and our fifth order was 20-25 minutes. The service was decent, but they also missed an order. All the ramen were decent, the exception was the tonkotsu it tastes no where near what it’s supposed to be and it was also the only bowl that came out at room temperature. For those looking for “authentic” Japanese ramen, I believe this place is Chinese owned.
