THE POUR HOUSE Italian Kitchen and Wine Bar
About
Handmade Pasta in the Heart of Kapalua
Walking into The Pour House feels less like a formal restaurant visit and more like stumbling upon a best-kept secret in West Maui. This intimate Italian kitchen prioritizes the slow, rhythmic art of handmade pasta, serving dishes that capture the rustic spirit of the Mediterranean against the lush backdrop of Kapalua.
A Focus on the Plate
The menu centers on bold, uncomplicated flavors. Patrons often rave about the signature Pappardelle Bolognese, where the house-made ribbons of pasta provide the perfect canvas for a rich, slow-simmered meat sauce that perfumes the air as soon as you step through the entrance. The wine bar selection is thoughtfully curated, focusing on varietals that stand up to the robust acidity of traditional tomato sauces and the creaminess of their signature carbonara.
The Atmosphere
Expect a buzzing, high-energy environment. It is a spot where the clatter of silverware and the hum of conversation fill the room, making it an excellent choice for friends looking to unwind after a day on the nearby golf courses or coastal trails. While the indoor dining area stays cozy and lively, be prepared for a slightly elevated noise level during peak evening hours—it is the sound of a kitchen that is firing on all cylinders.
Parking can get a bit tight given the popularity of the surrounding Kapalua resort area, so arriving a few minutes early is a smart play. Whether you are looking for a deep, earthy Chianti or a plate of fresh gnocchi that melts on contact, this kitchen delivers a reliable, soulful experience that avoids the pretension often found in destination dining.

The lemon drop was super stiff might as well have been a whole glass of grey goose. The food lacked flavor (brown butter pasta), the lasagna was super acidic instantly gave us heart burn. We paid $400 for a mediocre dinner. Would not recommend, we came here 4 years ago, must have gone downhill since then.

Avoid Avoid Avoid. It’s hard to hide when the owner is simply trying to cheat people from their money by serving absolute gung. The reviews are terrible - believe them. I ordered the fried cheese tortellini as a ‘safe option’. There was zero cheese, just burned little white bread balls. All is frozen, thawed, presented. Complete scam. *Lied about ingredients in the cocktail. Refused to name what wine they poured - any wine.

Loved our experience at the Pour House. I had Spaghetti Carbonera and my son had the Lasagna. Pasta was very light and delicious. We loved our meals and the service was amazing. We would return for sure.

What a beautiful experience all around! Such a warm, inviting staff and elegant surroundings. Last night there was a guitarist playing! The food is delicious and thoughtfully orchestrated. Italian at its highest level! We came from Denver to celebrate my birthday there! Second time and even better than I remembered.

We just got back from having dinner at the Pour House and this place, in my opinion, is a a gem on Maui, Definitely not talked about enough. This quaint Italian restaurant is nestled in between Sansei & Taverna in Kapalua. The owner, Mauricio, is always there to greet you and he is also the cook. He always takes the time to talk with each guest and answer any questions you may have about the menu, offering suggestions if you’re torn between menu items. My husband has a milk allergy and Mauricio is always super helpful & accommodating, customizing dishes so he can enjoy the delicious food. I highly recommend this place. You will not be sorry. 10 out of 10.

I was actually surprise about the low reviews here. This place is phenomenal! The chef recommended the best appetizer that we ever had!! I ordered the spicy seafood pasta and it was amazing!! The staff tried their very best to accommodate us. They seem a bit shy but are very polite.. I love the background music as well, soothing into my ear, the musician is great too! We will come back here for sure!! Highly recommended!!

Came back here since we had such an amazing experience two years ago. We had the pear and burrata it was amazing. I had the lobster ravioli that was off the menu and my hubby had the crunchy tortellini. We topped it off with the chocolate cake. Great service. The chef made it to our table and really made the experience memorable.

We came to The Pour House for dinner one night during our honeymoon. They don’t have a liquor license, but you can bring your own from the nearby liquor store with no corkage fee—which was a big plus since we didn’t have to pay the usual high drink prices on the island. The owner offered us a plate of burrata, and while it was delicious, we thought it was just a little sample. Instead, it ended up being a full appetizer—and he chose the most expensive burrata option on the menu—which we were charged for. That part felt a bit forced and left us uncomfortable. For mains, we ordered the short rib bolognese and the short rib lasagna, and both were excellent—rich, flavorful, and definitely worth it. Overall, the food was fantastic and the owner was friendly, but the way the burrata was handled was disappointing.

One of the better Italian restaurants I’ve eaten at anywhere. The staff were friendly and kind including the owner who is on the floor touching every table. We loved it so much we came back a second night during our stay at the Ritz. It’s walking distance from the hotel. Good restaurants in Maui are iffy and overpriced, but this place was consistently amazing two separate nights. Thanks for making memorable dinners during our visit. We really appreciate you.
