A Front-Row Seat to the Pacific

Perched high above the rugged coastline of Kapalua, The Plantation House delivers an experience defined by its sweeping, unobstructed views of the rolling green fairways of the Kapalua Golf Club and the deep blue of the Molokai Channel. As the sun begins to dip, the dining room transforms; the golden hour light spills across the tables, making it arguably the premier spot in West Maui for sunset cocktails. It is a space designed for those who appreciate a blend of upscale refinement and the breezy, laid-back spirit of Hawaii.

Island-Inspired Culinary Craft

The menu focuses on Pacific Rim flavors, emphasizing locally sourced seafood and fresh produce from upcountry farms. Executive chefs here prioritize the integrity of ingredients, often highlighting signature preparations like fresh-caught Hawaiian snapper or slow-roasted meats paired with tropical fruit reductions. You might notice the gentle clinking of silverware and the low hum of conversation, punctuated by the occasional breeze whistling through the open-air design, which keeps the atmosphere feeling airy and connected to the island landscape.

Practical Notes for Your Visit

While the service is polished, keep in mind that the popularity of the sunset views means the dining room can get quite vibrant and loud during peak evening hours. Parking is shared with the golf club facilities, so it is wise to arrive a few minutes early to navigate the lot. Whether you are celebrating a milestone or simply seeking a sophisticated meal in a iconic Maui setting, this restaurant captures the essence of luxury dining in Kapalua without feeling overly formal. It remains a staple for visitors who want to pair their meal with the most dramatic scenery on the island.

This was an excellent experience. We recently came here for dinner during when they were doing a two course holiday menu. I ordered the calamari followed by the macadamia nut crusted mahi mahi. Everything was delicious and the service was exceptional. To top it off the views from there are incredible and we even had a fantastic sunset. Would definitely recommend.

Views and service were incredible. Food was very good (filet was not cooked as ordered, but they fixed it. It was also tougher than the filet at Merrimans) Absolutely beautiful place. Pineapple upside down cake was the best I've ever had. Would recommend 100%

What an experience! My husband and I celebrated my birthday here and it was amazing. Our waitress, Amanda, was phenomenal. She shared all of the details of each food item and was so friendly the entire night. Her attentiveness was spot on! My husband ordered the butter fish, which was likely one of the best fish he has ever eaten. My ribeye was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Our barrata salad and ahi sashimi were great appetizers...the wasabi had some heat, which we loved. Amanda brought out a yummy dessert for my birthday it paired perfectly w/ our coffees. The views, oh my, they were breathtaking. The open air restaurant is gorgeous! We will definite be back the next time we are in Maui!!

Perfect restaurant for breakfast, brunch or lunch. 360° beautiful views of the golf greens, rolling hills and blue skies. Lovely and attentive waitstaff. Indoor dining but with large windows making it feel alfresco with the cool gentle breeze wafting through. Worth the 40 minute drive from our hotel. Reservations a must.

This is a beautiful setting with amazing views, the lush green golf course and long rows of star pines with the ocean and island backdrop make it a spectacular, especially at Sunset. Our visit this time was very so so overall. We made reservation some time ago, were quite early, had drinks in bar, my champagne was generous but FLAT, and when they seated us I did not really know the layout yet. After being there a while I realized we were really on the backside and they did have plenty of tables up closer to sunset side, that they seated others in after us. The Bread and Oil or Butter was excellent. Calimari appetizer was also pretty good. I had Lamb, with Asparagus and Fingerling Potatoes and it was not very good really. Lamb was a little rare, which would be fine, but it was too salty and otherwise had no real flavor. The potatoes also had no flavor and the asparagus were quite al Dante. My son had a Ribeye and I also thought it wa heavy on salt and again otherwise lacking great flavor. My wifes chicken and noodles OK. Our DIL's fish was good.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If you’re looking for one of the most memorable dining experiences in Maui, The Plantation House is an absolute must. From the moment we arrived, the setting alone took our breath away—perched above the Kapalua Golf Course with sweeping panoramic views of the ocean, neighboring islands, and rolling greens. It’s easily one of the most scenic breakfast (or brunch) spots we’ve ever experienced. The food absolutely lived up to the view. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. You can tell they put real care into both the ingredients and the execution. Whether you’re going savory or sweet, you really can’t go wrong. The service was just as impressive—friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without ever feeling rushed. It added to the relaxed, island-style atmosphere that makes you want to linger a little longer. What stood out most was how this place perfectly captures the spirit of Maui—laid-back luxury, incredible natural beauty, and top-tier hospitality. If you’re visiting Maui, don’t miss this spot. Pro tip: go early in the morning for cooler weather and crystal-clear views—you won’t regret it.

⭐ Beautiful views, incredible food, and surprisingly family-friendly! While visiting Maui, we made a reservation at The Plantation House, and it ended up being one of our favorite meals of the trip. The setting alone is stunning—overlooking the Kapalua golf course with gorgeous ocean views—but the food absolutely lived up to the scenery. We started with a fresh house salad, which was simple but perfectly dressed and a great way to kick things off. For entrées: • My husband ordered the short rib, which was incredibly tender and rich with flavor. The sauce paired perfectly with the creamy mashed potatoes and roasted carrots. • My oldest son had the prime rib, and it was cooked beautifully with a great sear and topped with asparagus and a flavorful butter. • I chose the shrimp scampi, which was buttery, garlicky, and packed with shrimp. The pasta was coated in the most delicious creamy sauce and even came with toasted bread to soak up every bit of it. • My younger two ordered from the kids menu—the kids short rib and butter-and-cheese fettuccini—and both plates were generous and surprisingly elevated for kids’ meals. Everything we ordered came out looking beautiful and tasting just as good. The service was attentive without being overbearing, and the whole experience felt relaxed but still upscale. If you’re visiting Maui and want a spot that delivers great food, amazing views, and works well for families, The Plantation House is absolutely worth the reservation.

This was our second visit here (1st in 2023) did not disappoint! Went 1:00, late lunch, pretty quiet, efficient & excellent service, nicest hostess, beautiful view of the ocean and perfect tropical breeze the day of our visit. Steak (OMG the flavors!) & salad wedge was excellent! We shared the Pineapple upside down desert- LEAVE ROOM FOR THIS! Food typical prices for a Country Club/Maui, no sticker shock for us.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. The Snorkel Shop recommended them to me and I enjoyed it so much I visited three times during my trip. As a solo traveler dining alone can prompt different levels of service but their entire staff is so lovely and warm and on my birthday they gave me the best seat in the house for breakfast and made me feel so special. I appreciated it so much. Also the views were breathtaking. Special shoutout to Deb! Best lobster bisque of my life. Escargot was awesome as well. Can’t wait to visit again next time I’m back! Mahalo!!!
