About
A Above the Pacific
Tucked away within the prestigious Montage Kapalua Bay, The Hideaway offers a relaxed, open-air dining experience that perfectly captures the spirit of West Maui. Unlike the more formal establishments dotting the coast, this space emphasizes a laid-back sophistication where the sound of the ocean breeze is as prominent as the clinking of cocktail glasses. It is the ideal spot for travelers looking to transition from a long day of snorkeling at Kapalua Bay to a refined, comfortable dinner.
Menu Highlights and Flavors
The kitchen leans into island-inspired comfort food. You will find elevated takes on classics, with the Kalua Pork quesadillas being a standout for those seeking a local flavor profile in a familiar format. The beverage program is equally tailored to the climate, featuring crisp craft beers and tropical-forward cocktails that pair well with the humid evening air. The presentation is unpretentious, prioritizing fresh, high-quality ingredients over elaborate garnishes.
The Atmosphere
The setting is distinctly airy, with vaulted ceilings and large wooden beams that reflect the plantation-style architecture synonymous with the Kapalua region. While the interior is beautiful, be prepared for the popularity of the space—during peak sunset hours, the floor plan can feel quite bustling, and the energy level rises accordingly. It is a lively environment, best suited for groups of friends or couples who enjoy a vibrant, social backdrop rather than a quiet, candlelit affair.
Parking in the resort area can be a bit of a maze, so arrive a few minutes early if you plan to utilize valet services. Once seated, the view of the lush, rolling greenery and the glimpse of the horizon make the effort entirely worthwhile. Whether you are craving a casual sunset drink or a full meal, this spot serves as a genuine portal into the lifestyle of Maui’s northwestern shores.

Karie and Rob are a tag team of unparalleled focus and knowledge, as well as providers of delicious food and cocktail recommendations. If you have not yet visited here while on Maui, please put this place first on your list. Do yourself an unforgettable favor and order a Kapalua Sunset, a Maui Tai and the Vietnamese wings. While you're at it, please try the fish sandwich and the pineapple upside down cake. In fact, everything here, and all the employees, based on our first visit, are top notch, and worthy of visit after visit. We can hardly wait to come back!

Bartenders are great and the best mai tai I have had island the island out of the 15 or so places I’ve tried. Well, that’s if you like them boozy and not sweet. If you want the weak sugary version this one is not for you. For the reviews that say it’s overpriced, I am assuming they don’t realize they are in Maui at all 5 star resort. A cocktail in whalers village at the mega restaurants will be $20 bucks, if you can’t spend and extra $5 for a better drink and atmosphere you’re probably in the wrong place 😂

The first meal I had in Hawaii was at the restaurant inside the Montage Resort. After a long day of travel, we were looking to relax and grab some good food and the Hideaway was exactly what we needed. The staff is super friendly and helped us pick out some dishes to try. The Ahi Poke here was one of my favorite I had in Hawaii which I think is a bit surprising looking back, but the furikaka rice crackers that were served with the Ahi poke were amazing. I also loved the lobster mac which had an insanely good manchego cheese sauce and tender lobster through the dish. The Shishito peppers are a great app to share, an easy mild spice option for anyone.
