About
A Culinary Journey Across Polynesia
The Feast at Mokapu sets itself apart from the standard tourist luau by focusing on high-end, multi-course dining rooted in Pacific Rim traditions. Set against the sweeping backdrop of Wailea’s golden coastline, the experience is designed to feel intimate despite the communal setting. Guests are treated to a menu that evolves with the seasons, moving away from mass-produced buffet lines in favor of plated dishes like fresh catch and traditional imu-cooked kalua pork that actually retains its smoky, tender texture.
The Pulse of the Evening
As the sun dips below the horizon, the atmosphere shifts. You will hear the rhythmic thrum of the pahu drums echoing against the salt air, signaling the start of a performance that details the ancestral voyage to the Hawaiian Islands. Unlike venues that favor slapstick humor, the storytelling here leans into history and choreography, illuminated by flickering torchlight that casts deep shadows across the open-air pavilion. It is a sensory blend of sweet plumeria scents, the charred aroma of island cuisine, and the sharp, percussive sounds of hula dancers hitting the stage.
Know Before You Arrive
Expect a refined, upscale pace that demands a bit of patience. Because the dinner is served course-by-course rather than grabbed at a steam table, the evening unfolds deliberately. It is a fantastic choice for couples celebrating an anniversary or families looking for a meaningful deep-dive into local culture rather than a frantic show. A quick word of advice: while the arrival process is seamless, the walk from the parking area to the beachfront grounds can be slightly dark once the stars are out, so wear comfortable footwear that handles sand and pathways with ease.

First and foremost, thank you for a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience. Attending the Luau at Andaz was nothing short of extraordinary. It was meant to be the perfect finale to a wonderful vacation on Maui and it exceeded every expectation. Given the abundance of Luaus across the island, the competition is undeniably strong. Yet, in my view, the Mokapu Luau at Andaz Wailea is worth every dollar. The atmosphere is simply breathtaking. Being welcomed personally with a lei and escorted to a table set against the backdrop of the ocean, under the vast Hawaiian sky, sets the tone beautifully. A brief introduction follows, offering guidance on the evening’s flow, from the bar to the photo opportunities and beyond. Shortly thereafter, my host, Zoe, introduced herself and guided me through the culinary journey, thoughtfully inquiring about any allergies or dietary preferences. From a gastronomic perspective, the experience was exceptional: a diverse and complete menu rather than a limited selection, all presented with remarkable attention to detail. The absolute highlight, without question, was the dessert. The evening unfolded alongside captivating local music, traditional dances, and storytelling. It was immersive, authentic, and wonderfully presented. The entire team contributed to an unforgettable experience. I still get goosebumps watching the videos I took. I would like to extend special thanks to the team. Service can vary greatly across countries and cultures, but I was genuinely impressed by the precision, elegance, and attention to detail demonstrated by Zoe. Her complete mastery of the menu, her thoughtful drink pairings, her eloquence, and her genuine care elevated the entire evening. She consistently went above and beyond, setting a remarkable example of excellence. It was an absolute pleasure to experience such a high standard of service. Andaz should be incredibly proud to have such a talented, experienced, and gracious team member. Zoe is certainly not the only standout. I would also like to recognize Eric, David, and Cosmin for their outstanding contributions. Cosmin, in particular, went the extra mile by taking time after the event to engage with guests and thoughtfully gather feedback. Each of you did an exceptional job. Thank you once again for a truly unforgettable evening. It will remain a cherished memory for years to come.

My daughter and I enjoyed this experience as part of her birthday celebration. This was our first time in Hawaii and our first lu'au. From the start, we were warmly welcomed and enjoyed the cultural displays before the lu'au began. The food, brought in three courses, was delicious and astonishing in its variety (14 dishes!) and generous servings. We completely enjoyed the ocean and sunset view and the dancing and narration.

My husband and I had an amazing time but we did feel the Lu’au entertainment was average and overpriced for the quality of the show. We have been to other Lu’au’s in Waikiki, paid less than this Lu’au and enjoyed the entertainment more. The things we did love about this experience, the food and beverage selections was great and the sunset and scenery was breathtaking. A photographer was on site and took a great complimentary picture with the beautiful scenery in the background. My husband consumes meat and I am Vegan/Vegetarian. I was able to request a food selection that accommodated us both. The actual show and entertainment felt a bit average. For the cost we were hoping for an experience that would be memorable, something we could talk about for many years to come. The show felts a little flat and underwhelming. Recommendations to improve the experience might include making the show more interactive. We attended another Lu’au in Waikiki years ago and it included an interactive segment where guest could stand and were taught a few moves. Our group truly enjoyed the inclusive experience. Overall we had an amazing experience as the resort is amazing with beautiful views and the food was amazing as well as the service staff at the show. The show just felt a little flat for the price of the experience.
