A Slice of Ireland Above the Wailea Coast

Perched directly on the emerald fairways of the Wailea Blue Golf Course, Mulligans on the Blue offers a distinct pivot from the typical resort dining scene. While the rest of the coast focuses on formal white-tablecloth service, this spot brings the boisterous, welcoming energy of a traditional Irish pub to Maui. Expect an open-air floor plan where the salt air mingles with the faint scent of baking soda bread and savory stews.

What to Expect on the Plate

Chef Michael O’Dwyer isn't afraid to lean into authentic flavors. The menu serves up hearty comfort food that hits the spot after a round of golf or a long day at the beach. You will find staples like the classic fish and chips, featuring a crisp, golden-brown beer batter, and a rich shepherd's pie that feels like a warm hug. It is the kind of place where you come for the Guinness on tap and stay because the local musicians have just kicked off a set.

The Lay of the Land

This is arguably one of the most reliable spots in South Maui for live entertainment. The venue has a knack for hosting high-energy bands that turn the space into a lively social hub as the sun dips below the Pacific horizon. A quick tip for first-timers: parking can get a bit snug when the evening music sets draw a crowd, so arriving just before sunset is a smart play. The view of the ocean stretching out beyond the manicured greens provides a backdrop that is hard to beat anywhere else in Wailea. Whether you are catching a game or just looking for a cold pint in a relaxed, no-frills setting, the atmosphere here is reliably upbeat and unpretentious.

We’ve been to Mulligans three different times for the magic show, over the 18 months. The food is good and show is fun and cheap, so we go whenever we bring new people to Maui. As for the food, fish-n-chips are popular. Our fam all liked it - but no malt and vinegar. I didn’t eat it, so I didn’t even realize. That’s the second time we’ve had it missed (last time my father asked multiple times for it). ‘Chips’ were good but a little soggy tonight. Burgers were good, juicy, and came with good fries. Chicken sandwich and shepherd’s pie were also good. In short - we enjoyed all the food. However… We have had the same server twice now (I’ll just call him M, to spare picking on him). Our group tonight agreed that is the worst service we have ever had eating out. My daughter had a fly in her water and asked FOUR times for a new water. He never brought it. After 20+ minutes, we got it ourselves from the bar. We asked for Diet Coke refills twice. First time took 15-20 minutes, second time over 30 minutes, just before we left. We went to order dessert, and he told us they had nothing on the menu - only cheesecake. Not sure what management is doing, but they only had two servers tonight (bartender/someone from kitchen helped out too). Diners were clearly frustrated. Flies were a plenty with food out (turn on/up your fans!) and we had to dump all our dirty dishes on a table outside to get rid of them. Others were doing the same. It’s sad. The food is pretty good, but the service is so so bad, that it just ruins the experience of eating here. I hope management reads this. I know good help (and sometimes any help) is hard to find on Maui, but it has been many months since our last visit and they clearly just are not trying to staff this up and train their people on how to provide good service.

If you are looking for a real Irish experience, this is the place to be. The food was outstanding. The view of the Pacific Ocean with the sun setting was beautiful from our vantage point. The live music was just the right volume for conversation. It is a place for people who are more seasoned, which I liked. This establishment closed at 9pm and the band played approximately 2.5 hours. I would have liked it to stay open a bit longer. We went on a Saturday night.

My husband and I had our wedding ceremony, reception, and rehearsal dinner at Mulligans this past weekend and I can honestly say it was the best decision we ever made. We had a large wedding of about 140 people and the staff of Mulligans pulled off the event of our dreams. Tara, the coordinator worked with us for the whole year leading up to it, and what really stood out for us was how flexible they are and how genuinely they wanted our weekend to be exactly what we wanted. Richard was there the entire weekend to set up and ensured the flow of the day went smoothly, and was so kind through the entire process. The entire staff for that matter worked so hard and made us feel so special. The food is 10x better (and more affordable) than your usual wedding reception meal, the setting is FUN, and the people are warm and work hard. Couldn’t recommend Mulligans more for any event!! ❤️

Fun vibe! Enjoyed this place very much! Each of our meals was delicious and the service was quick. Probably the best fish and chips I had on our trip to Maui (and I ate fish and chips everywhere we went)! The 80's soul band was fun to groove to. There was a $5 cover charge for each person, but I was happy to pay it for the band. They were great! Will go back next trip!

We stumbled into Mulligan’s Irish Pub on a Thursday and had no idea we were in for such an incredible night. They host a magic show for only a $10-per-person cover—an absolute steal for the quality of entertainment! We had our 9-year-old with us, who loves magic, and the experience couldn’t have been more perfect. Brent, the magician, not only put on an amazing show but also brought our son into the act and genuinely encouraged his love of magic. It meant so much to us and absolutely made his night. As Brits, we were also seriously impressed with the food—it was awesome—plus the drink prices were great, and the whole place has such a pretty, inviting setting. We could not have loved it more. Highly, highly recommend!
