Lappert's Hawaii Wailea
About
A Tropical Chill in South Maui
Stepping into Lappert's Hawaii in Wailea feels like the ultimate reward after a morning spent trekking the nearby coastal paths. The air inside is thick with the scent of freshly roasted Kona coffee beans and sweet, churning waffle cones. It is a no-frills, high-reward stop where the focus is entirely on the richness of the scoops.
Island-Inspired Flavors
Known for their commitment to ultra-premium ingredients, the menu here leans heavily into Hawaiian heritage. You will find signature creations like Kaua'i Pie—a decadent combination of dark chocolate fudge, macadamia nuts, and coconut—alongside vibrant scoops of fresh mango and passion fruit sorbet. The texture is notoriously dense, a result of the high butterfat content that makes every spoonful melt slowly even in the heat of the Maui sun.
Local Vibe and Tips
The space is bright and casual, serving as a social hub for tourists and locals alike. Expect a bit of a line during the mid-afternoon rush; it is a popular pit stop for those staying at the nearby luxury resorts. While the seating area is limited, the proximity to the ocean breeze makes a walk down to the beach with a dripping cone the preferred way to enjoy your treat. Just keep an eye on the sidewalk—the tropical humidity makes for sticky situations if you don't eat your scoops fast enough.

Ice cream shakes were phenomenal but don’t be tricked by the “and coffee” because the cold brew float I bought was a very bitter. Ice cream. Awesome. Coffee. Not so much.

Tons of yummy flavors! I had the coconut, caramel, macadamia nut, but my friend said the straight coconut was fantastic! The location, The Shops, is super cute. Lots of upscale shops for those with money and window shopping for those that don't. 😏 …

Lappert’s hands down has the best ice cream I’ve ever tried. Had to come back twice On my first visit, I had the Pineapple Cake and Ube Coconut. The pineapple cake was good but a little heavy for me. The Ube Coconut was creamy, rich, and full of flavor. The second time, I got Ube Coconut again and tried the Pineapple Coconut, which ended up being the perfect combo. Don’t skip the waffle cone. It’s freshly made, crispy, and adds the perfect touch. Wish they had Lappert’s in LA. If you’re in Hawaii, this is a must-visit dessert spot.
