Island Gourmet Markets: The Wailea Kitchen Staple

Stepping into this market within The Shops at Wailea feels like discovering the ultimate cheat code for Maui dining. While technically a gourmet grocery, the draw here is the extensive deli counter and the refrigerated cases packed with local favorites. You will smell the faint, salty breeze of the Pacific as you walk through the sliding doors, immediately followed by the inviting scent of fresh poke and warm, flaky pastries.

Fresh Hawaiian Flavors on the Go

This isn't your average convenience stop. It is a hub for high-quality, island-inspired sustenance perfect for a beach day or a casual lanai dinner. The poke bowls are legendary among locals, featuring fresh, buttery ahi tuna tossed in house-made sauces that balance soy, sesame, and a hint of sweet Maui onion. Beyond the raw bar, you will find prepared meals like kalua pork and rice that taste significantly better than standard takeout options.

A Local Shortcut in South Maui

The layout is polished and bright, making it a go-to for those staying in the surrounding luxury resorts who want to avoid a formal sit-down experience for every meal. It is exceptionally popular for its impressive selection of island-grown coffee, craft beers from Maui Brewing Co., and high-end wines. Keep in mind that during the lunch hour or just before sunset, the aisles can get quite crowded with beach-goers and shoppers grabbing last-minute provisions. Be prepared to navigate a bit of a squeeze near the deli line, but the speed of the staff makes the slight congestion manageable. Whether you are grabbing a quick morning musubi or stocking up on snacks for a road trip to Hana, this spot serves as the unofficial pantry of South Maui.

Island Gourmet Markets offers fresh cooked food from their kitchen. They offer Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner daily. The market is very clean and the service is excellent. They have a wide variety of cold drinks. They also have an extensive selection of liquor and wines. They also offer souvenir type gifts such as shirts, hats, bags, pillows, key rings etc. We ate there 4 times and each experience was good. The food was fresh on each occasion. Prices are a little above average for the portion size.

Great place to get some quick food grabs or stock up on some groceries. There are also a souvenir section for some last minute grabs on the way back. There are a good stock of beach wear, food for the road, and plenty of drink selections. Would recommend stopping by to check out

With "gourmet" in the name, I was expecting an overpriced store. I was pleasantly surprised to see reasonable prices, especially when compared with the food at the resorts. Check to see whether your hotel offers a free van to the Shops at Wailea. We saw a Fairmont van, and we had taken the Four Seasons van to the mall. You have to walk through the mall to get to the store, depending on which of the 5 entrances to the mall you are let off. This market had everything from grab and go food (such as sandwiches, salads, sushi), to made to order food, to pre-packaged snacks , wine, beer, souvenirs, household staples, and groceries. Examples of what we bought: Hawaiian pizza, Chicken BLT (made to order), yogurt, packaged macadamia nut and chocolate muffins, fresh fruit - the papaya was so good, Chicken Teriyaki with rice (grab and go, but it runs out; we got this twice! so good!!), Maui Blanc Pineapple wine - we received a bottle at the Fairmont; it was so good; we got another! Based on a cashier's recommendation, we also bought Maui Splash wine - pineapple and passion fruit. The Maui Blanc Pineapple wine was not too sweet or pineapply but just had a really delicious light fruity pineapple flavor, and my husband usually hates fruit wines. It doesn't taste like your normal white wine nor like a wine cooler, so it was something light and different. We bought our Chocolate Covered Macadamia nuts here. Cashiers were very nice and helpful especially the more mature lady who told us about the wines and keeping our sales receipts. Tips: * Bring a shopping bag or expect to buy one * Keep your receipts. If you get to $100, you get to pick out a free gift such as a Hawaii reusable tote bag or turtle mug.

Great place for local foods and snacks. However, the poke is very salty. The burger was very dry and kind of thrown together. The Dubai Chocolate Strawberry cup is indulgent (and pricey) - delicious!!

ABC Store's fancy schmancy location is at The Shops of Wailea at the north end. ATMOSPHERE: The store is clean and organized. It's like a supermarket and sundry store in one, selling all the usual groceries including snacks, drinks, clothing, beer, wines, and liquors. They also sport a fresh meat & seafood department with a butcher, fresh sushi that's made in-house, a coffee bar, and a small gelato bar. Of course my favorite is the deli that sells sandwiches, burgers, donburi bowls, and even local-style bento lunches. FOOD: Swiss Mushroom Burger IMO, the best version on the rock. Everything was moist and juicy; the bun, grilled onions & mushrooms, the patty... Melt in your mouth goodness. And mayo was already spread on the bun... Yes! Are they mind readers?? I asked for curly fries but ended up with thick-cut ones, which were still good. I asked for no veggies except for a pickle but received tomatoes and lettuce. It's a good sized burger for the price. Grab lots of napkins because you're gonna need them! Holla! Bowtie Chicken Caesar Pack These delicious little bundles of joy are stocked in the refrige below the deli counter. Bowtie pasta tossed with black olives, sliced chicken breast, and parmesan cheese in a creamy caesar dressing with a tease of shredded romaine on top. The perfect app and affordable. SERVICE: Everyone was friendly, helpful, greets and thanks you. The deli girls taking orders or cooks need to listen and read tickets better. The cashier was super smiley and welcoming. OVERALL: Really good burgers at great prices, excellent service.

This is a review just for the deli section of the store. This is an evolved ABC store, and I wish all ABC stores had the hot food sections like this. The poke was priced decent and we got a poke bowl with an extra container of poke as well. There was a good amount of plate lunches to choose from, and we needed up going with the loco moco which was drenched with gravy. I was told by many others that the breakfast was the best but we didn’t have opportunity to try it out since it stops at 11am and we always came in the afternoon. Be careful when you come during lunch because it’s a crazy mess of a crowd and very overwhelming to someone who is there for the first time. Follow the crowds and the signs so you know where and how to order

My Uber driver recommended Island Gourmet Market if I was looking for some authentic poke, and to my surprise, this place has a little bit of everything. Is it a gift shop? A supermarket? A mini pharmacy? Yes, to all of the above! It’s truly an amazing one-stop shop. I picked up some souvenirs for my family and grabbed a few breakfast items to take back to my hotel. The market is incredibly clean, with plenty of staff on hand, and there’s just so much to look at and explore. It’s one of those places you could easily spend a lot of time in, enjoying all the different things they have to offer. Definitely worth a stop!

If you’re looking for a well-stocked grocery store and gift shop in Wailea, Maui, Island Gourmet Markets is the perfect place to visit. This store has everything you could possibly need, whether you’re shopping for essentials, grabbing a quick bite, or picking up souvenirs for friends and family back home. Island Gourmet Markets offers a wide variety of items, from T-shirts, hats, and luggage to fresh groceries, snacks, and an impressive selection of sushi and sashimi to-go. It has all the convenience of an ABC Store, but with the added benefit of a full grocery store experience. One of the highlights of shopping here is the fresh fruit selection—bursting with vibrant colors of red, green, and yellow. The abundance of pineapples is particularly impressive, as you’ll see in my pictures. Beyond the selection, the store is clean, well-organized, and easy to navigate. If you’re staying in the Wailea area and need a quick grocery run or want to grab a delicious meal within walking distance of your hotel, Island Gourmet Markets is definitely worth a stop.

This was a great little grocery convenient store. They've got a little bit of everything and a food area with all types of foods from sandwiches to rice bowls, sushi and poke bowls. I came here 3 days in a row for their poke bowl. It was so fresh and they have so many different options. The smoked octopus was so delicious. If you're looking for a good poke bowl this is the place.
