A Morning Ritual in South Maui

Walking into Honolulu Coffee in the Shops at Wailea feels like a concentrated dose of island energy. The air carries the distinct, earthy aroma of freshly roasted Kona beans—a sharp contrast to the salty ocean breeze just a few hundred yards away. While the plaza can be bustling with tourists and shoppers, this space offers a necessary pause for those looking to fuel up before a morning at the beach or a long day of coastal exploration.

The Kona Connection

This is not your average quick-stop cafe; they prioritize the origin of their product. Their signature Kona coffee is sourced directly from the volcanic slopes of the Big Island, resulting in a cup that is remarkably smooth with subtle notes of chocolate and citrus. You will find that the baristas are genuinely passionate about the brewing process, often taking the time to explain the difference between a pour-over and a standard drip while the espresso machine hisses rhythmically in the background.

A Tropical Bite

Beyond the caffeine, the menu is anchored by local favorites. The acai bowls are a vibrant, cold remedy for the tropical heat, packed with fresh fruit and crunchy granola that provides a satisfying texture. If you arrive early, the buttery, flaky croissants are often still warm from the oven, though the limited seating inside means you might find yourself sipping your latte on a nearby stone bench overlooking the lush landscaping. It is a popular spot, so be prepared for a short queue during the mid-morning rush, but the efficiency of the staff keeps the line moving quickly. It remains a essential stop for anyone craving a high-quality, authentic Hawaiian coffee experience while exploring the Wailea resort area.

Great coffee- I always stop here. Yummy acai bowl. Wish there were more fresh options but it’s mostly a coffee place. Fun seating outside.

Average coffee. Nice for a quick in-and-out visit. There's some seating outside, but then you'd have to boil in the heat while drinking your hot drink.

This Honolulu Coffee location was within walking distance during vacation in Maui and I went there several times. It was very good every time and the baristas were so kind and helpful.Keep it up! I ordered a dine in latte the one day it was rainy and the latte art was superb...thanks Amanda!🤩

It's been a while since I have been able to find Italian grade Espresso presented in a very nice European way! Some people were talking about the beans being from somewhere else.. they are just wrong! Here only high quality Kona beans are served! Thank you Honolulu Coffee Company for providing this amazing and very presentable espresso! I would also recommend trying the Açaí bowls. They are very tasty!

Super nice staff and great quality coffee... Unfortunately, just like many customer service industry here on Maui so short staffed ( big reason is the average person living here CANNOT afford to buy OR rent!! 😢) So closed around 1pm even though hours are until 4pm. They had to explain this to many customers turned away. Picture is of stage for live music starting at 5pm

Yes two stars, but not because it’s terrible or bad at anything, but you should expect more for the price of everything here. It’s just a run of the mill wait in line for coffee in a strip mall coffee place. A very nice strip mall, but still just that. Easy to find, directly next to Prada. Danish was pretty good and frappe was decent. The main reason for the low 2 stars is due to the fact that the Honolulu Coffee company is serving South American Blend coffee…. Yes, there is no Hawaiian coffee being sold. Huh, say what? Exactly, go somewhere else unless this place is just convenient for you.

I love going to Honolulu Coffee for their great hot almond milk latte’s and sometimes I’ll spurge (calories) on a delicious pastry. What I really enjoy too are the people. There’s always fun music playing creating a fun environment. Keep up the great vibes ladies, you make it special.

MUST HAVE! :-) First day on this part of Maui and I immediately give this place five stars! They are quick, efficient, and friendly! I almost finished the coffee before I made it the short way back to the condo! The Hawaiian açaí bowl (subbed strawberries because they didn’t have bananas) is delicious and enough for two! I will be going back! :-)

Nice place in a very nice mall. I ordered the Hawaiian - real nice flavor with a good amount of milk. Not good if you like strong coffee with minimal milk and flavoring.

I’ve been to this place in Honolulu where I felt they had more options. Coffee is decent but a little on the pricey side. My Iced Vanilla latte with almond milk was $8.15.
