About
Island-Style Freshness in Waianae
When you are driving down the Leeward Coast, Aloha Poke offers a mandatory pit stop for those craving authentic, locally-sourced seafood. Unlike the heavy fried foods often found along this stretch of highway, this spot focuses on the clean, bright flavors of fresh-caught ahi and octopus.
The Poke Experience
The counter is a study in simplicity. You select your base—warm rice or crisp greens—and move through a selection of signature marinades. The spicy ahi is a local favorite, packed with enough heat to wake you up but balanced by the sweetness of high-quality fish. You will hear the rhythmic chopping of knives against wooden blocks as the staff prepares bowls to order, a sound that signals freshness in a way few other kitchens can replicate.
Why Locals Love This Spot
It is the kind of place where you stop after a morning surf session at Makaha Beach. The atmosphere is unpretentious and geared toward hungry locals. Be aware that during the lunch rush, the parking lot can get a bit cramped, and the line often spills out toward the roadside; it is a small price to pay for what many consider the best poke in Waianae. Whether you are grabbing a quick lunch before heading further north or packing a cooler for a sunset picnic, the portions are generous enough to satisfy the most demanding appetite.

Aloha Poke is the best! The Ahi is super fresh and each Poke bowl is mixed fresh while you wait! There is no premade poke sitting around getting soggy and soft, just amazing food made with excellent flavor combinations and lots of love and pride! We have had lunch here everyday and will have withdrawal symptoms when we leave! I guess we are just going to have to come back sooner rather than later!

Aloha Poke has some of the best poke on island, and definitely the best poke that I’ve tried on the west side! You can get either ahi or salmon for the poke; I’ve tried both, and either option has been incredibly fresh every time. They have a ton of options for what style bowl you want, so there will definitely be something you like on the menu. My favorites are the Hawaiian style and the limu ogo, and my husband loves the spicy and Dave’s special. We usually get it on white rice but sometimes like to switch it up with the wonton chips, which are absolutely delicious. The portion sizes are huge, and we don’t like to have leftovers for poke, so he usually gets the two choice bowl and I get the keiki (kids) bowl. The humongous portion size definitely makes it a great deal. Sometimes we sit on the picnic tables outside the restaurant and eat, and sometimes we take it to the beach. We’ve gotten poke here so many times, but I just tried the garlic chicken for the first time and it was incredible. The chicken was so juicy, the skin crispy, and the sauce was buttery and sweet. It comes with white rice and mac salad, which was perfectly mild and peppery, and it actually had some potato, too. I’d say it may be the best chicken plate lunch I’ve ever had!!! So ono! I can’t wait to try more hot food from here, and I think I want to try the ahi katsu next. The most special part about Aloha Poke is that it’s a family-owned local business that is well-loved. The staff is always so kind and welcoming every time without fail, and it’s clear they put a lot of love and care into their work to ensure they serve good food to the community. I come here every time I’m in the area, and each visit always ends up being the highlight of my day! Mahalo nui loa 🤙🏽
