Island-Style Freshness on the Leeward Coast

When you are driving down the Farrington Highway through the heart of Waianae, it is easy to miss this local gem if you are moving too fast. Aloha Poke provides a straightforward, no-frills experience centered entirely on the quality of the catch. The air inside smells of clean, salted ocean water and toasted sesame oil, a sharp contrast to the humid tropical breeze just outside the door.

The Local Catch

This is the place for those who prioritize ingredient transparency. The menu leans into traditional Hawaiian preparations, highlighting buttery ahi tuna that melts on the tongue. You will find that the cubes are generous, tossed in house-made shoyu sauces that balance salinity with a subtle, ginger-forward heat. The sides are equally grounded in local staples—think sweet Maui onions and crisp ogo (seaweed) that provide a necessary crunch against the tender fish.

A Casual Coastal Stop

The atmosphere is strictly functional and built for the local lifestyle. It is designed for the surfer coming off the breaks at Makaha or a family picking up a quick, high-protein lunch before heading to the beach. Expect the hum of a busy kitchen and the occasional sound of heavy traffic passing by on the main thoroughfare, which reminds you exactly where you are: right in the middle of West Oahu’s bustling community. While the parking lot can get a bit tight during the lunch rush, the efficiency of the service means you are never waiting long to get back on the road toward the coast.

They serve the best poke on Oahu, maybe all Hawaiian islands. Don't let the building concern you. The people and the food are amazing.

The food was delicious, the woman at the checkout was very pleasant and sweet, answering all our questions with a smile. I really want to help such a service, so I left a tip with pleasure, no pressure whatsoever. She let us try different types of fish so we could decide which one we wanted. Also, when we sat outside, there was a beautiful view of the mountains, and there was a clean tablecloth—not just a table, but a CLEAN TABLECLOTH. It's amazing! The service is absolutely excellent!

Aloha Poke is the best! The Ahi is super fresh and each Poke bowl is mixed fresh while you wait! There is no premade poke sitting around getting soggy and soft, just amazing food made with excellent flavor combinations and lots of love and pride! We have had lunch here everyday and will have withdrawal symptoms when we leave! I guess we are just going to have to come back sooner rather than later!

Aloha Poke has some of the best poke on island, and definitely the best poke that I’ve tried on the west side! You can get either ahi or salmon for the poke; I’ve tried both, and either option has been incredibly fresh every time. They have a ton of options for what style bowl you want, so there will definitely be something you like on the menu. My favorites are the Hawaiian style and the limu ogo, and my husband loves the spicy and Dave’s special. We usually get it on white rice but sometimes like to switch it up with the wonton chips, which are absolutely delicious. The portion sizes are huge, and we don’t like to have leftovers for poke, so he usually gets the two choice bowl and I get the keiki (kids) bowl. The humongous portion size definitely makes it a great deal. Sometimes we sit on the picnic tables outside the restaurant and eat, and sometimes we take it to the beach. We’ve gotten poke here so many times, but I just tried the garlic chicken for the first time and it was incredible. The chicken was so juicy, the skin crispy, and the sauce was buttery and sweet. It comes with white rice and mac salad, which was perfectly mild and peppery, and it actually had some potato, too. I’d say it may be the best chicken plate lunch I’ve ever had!!! So ono! I can’t wait to try more hot food from here, and I think I want to try the ahi katsu next. The most special part about Aloha Poke is that it’s a family-owned local business that is well-loved. The staff is always so kind and welcoming every time without fail, and it’s clear they put a lot of love and care into their work to ensure they serve good food to the community. I come here every time I’m in the area, and each visit always ends up being the highlight of my day! Mahalo nui loa 🤙🏽

Stopped in here to get a poke bowl for lunch and was very happy I did. Great friendly service and delicious food! I had the Ahi Bowl - Hawaiian style. It was great! Wish I had more time to get more bowls but sadly going back to the cold tomorrow. If you are anywhere near here, make the trip to get a poke bowl. You won't be disappointed! Parking is sparse, but at least it's free. There are a couple of picnic tables to eat at outside. I drove up the coast and enjoyed mine while watching surfers out on the waves. Enjoy your Aloha Poke!

So many different options on top of the poke!! So I ended up getting steak and asparagus and a side of 1/4 lb of poke. Everything was so good. I loved the steak to be honest. The service was impeccable. The clerk skipped the tip option before I could give her a tip and I asked why…. And she responded with we just want you to come back… safe to say that’s going to happen.

We couldn’t stop going back & 100% would go back if I could stay longer. The poke was fresh and delicious! We continued to get the spicy mayo poke & tried out other flavor alongside it. + over rice, but definitely try the wonton nachos, they were an AMAZING option!
