The Boba Bar
About
A North Shore Refreshment Stop
When the heat of a Paia afternoon starts to settle in, locals and travelers alike duck into The Boba Bar to cool off. Located right in the heart of this iconic Maui surf town, it serves as the perfect pitstop after a session at Ho’okipa Beach or a morning spent wandering the boutiques along Hana Highway.
What to Expect
The space is unpretentious and geared toward the grab-and-go crowd, featuring a menu that focuses heavily on customizability. You can choose from a variety of milk teas, fruit teas, and signature slushies. The pearls are consistently chewy, providing that essential texture contrast against their house-brewed black and green tea bases. If you have a sweet tooth, the taro milk tea is a crowd favorite, balanced with just enough earthiness to keep it from feeling overly saccharine.
Local Nuances
It is worth noting that parking in this part of town is a competitive sport. You might need to circle the block a few times or park a short walk away near the community center, but the reward is a chilled drink that hits the spot. The atmosphere is casual—think open doors, a light breeze, and the low hum of blenders working through the afternoon rush. It is a no-frills, high-flavor spot that leans into the laid-back, salt-crusted culture of the Maui North Shore.

It’s the worst boba in my life. I ordered classic milk tea and my drink wasn’t even close to milk tea. It tasted like milk mixed with water.

This place was absolutely amazing! My drink was so good! I got a strawberry smoothie with mango and lilikoi jelly. My friend got a coffee, and she said it was great. The two people working there were so nice. Overall 10/10, highly recommend! I will say though, the reviews don't look promising for this place. All of the bad reviews have a similar theme of the same two rude workers. If I were the owner I would probably look into this...

Came to paia fish market, but it wasn’t open yet, decided to stop here and get a fresh matcha latte with boba. It was good, the woman working the site was alone but she was handling business! The baked goods looked good but since I was going to eat I decided to not get one haha.

I felt like I won the Boba tea lotto when we stumbled upon this please. BEST boba experience of my life. Definitely teen approved. Very creative and unique drinks and foods here. Also patient and informative staff- I was freaking out bc of all the options of build your own boba. First- coffee with boba and/or coffee jelly? Yes please! Second- butterfly tea! Enough said. I love pea flower tea and it was well made. I LOVED that you can skip flavor/ syrup. I find conventional/ chain boba tea are way too sweet. All food items we tried were great. Pre-made bagel in fridge was really good. Almond danish was great. I am also sad that some people gave this family owned business 1 star. If I just glanced their rating in Google maps, I wouldn’t have come here. People don’t realize their actions have huge impact on small businesses. But really, you are in Maui. Instead of enjoying this beautiful place, they write bad reviews. I hope they find love and compassion for others and themselves soon.

Hurray! Boba comes to Paia! This local, family owned store has a fresh clean feeling with yummy drinks and treats. Their boba bar has lots of ways to customize your boba tea experience. I particularly loved their Matcha green tea with honey and two servings of boba! The young lady that served me was friendly and answered all my questions and recommended some popular picks. I also got to meet the owner who was equally friendly and informative. I'll definitely be back soon!
