Cafe Mambo (30 Baldwin Ave)
About
A North Shore Refresh
Steps away from the crashing waves of Paia’s rugged shoreline, Cafe Mambo serves as a vibrant pulse point for travelers and locals navigating the Hana Highway. The atmosphere is unapologetically laid-back, where the humid salt air mixes with the scent of fresh-pressed smoothies and roasting coffee beans. It is the kind of place where sandy footwear is standard, and the casual, open-air seating keeps you connected to the rhythmic hum of the North Shore town.
Island-Inspired Flavors
The kitchen leans into a diverse menu that highlights local ingredients, ranging from hearty breakfast burritos that fuel surfers for morning sessions to satisfying midday paninis. Their signature focus remains on fresh, approachable plates that don't overcomplicate the Maui dining experience. Whether you are grabbing a quick acai bowl before a beach trek or settling in for a late-afternoon craft beer, the menu caters to those who value flavor over formality.
The Paia Experience
Be prepared for the charm of a busy coastal hub; the seating area can get quite animated during the lunch rush, and the communal layout often means sharing table space with fellow road-trippers. Parking in this part of Paia requires a bit of patience as you navigate the surrounding side streets, but the tradeoff is being right in the heart of the action. It is an ideal stop for anyone looking for a reliable, unpretentious meal that captures the authentic, sun-drenched spirit of the island.

We had a lovely evening, and loved our pasta! Absolutely stunning restaurant with great vibes. Would definitely recommend getting pasta AND the truffle fries, the portions were normal and prices reasonable.

Loving the "new" Cafe Mambo, which was revamped in 2024 with an all-new interior and menu. Their kanpachi with Molokai sweet potatoes is a great entree, and I love that they serve Gildas as a nod to Basque Country in Spain. I also had the most amazing hot chocolate chip cookie baked fresh for dessert!

10/10 for me. Cafe mambo is one of my most favorite places to have dinner. Really good atmosphere and the menu is very satisfying. We had the beet salad, broccolini, half chicken, venison bolognese, burrata with sourdough, and tomato salad. I enjoyed everything so much. I will be back!

Had pasta for dinner here. My partner ordered the lemon pasta and I the pesto, both dishes were wonderful. Good flavor, pasta wasn't over cooked, it was served hot and the portions were sizeable. The atmosphere was wonderful, really chill but classy vibe. Service was also good. Would highly recommend!

Post-church brunch on a Sunday morning was delightful and nourishing! I love when I can find a high protein meal rather than just the usual “breakfast” foods that are high sugar. We enjoyed the breakfast burrito and the sweet potato bowl with salmon and a chai latte. Next time I want to try the strawberry matcha, but they were out of matcha when we came in. It’s a nice environment fresh air coming through.
