Mana Foods
About
A North Shore Institution
Stepping into Mana Foods is practically a rite of passage for anyone cruising the Hana Highway. Since opening its doors in 1984, this community cornerstone has served as the unofficial living room of Paia. You won't find white tablecloths here; instead, expect the steady hum of a bustling deli counter and the earthy scent of organic produce filling the aisles.
Fueling Up for the Road to Hana
The deli is the real draw. Locals and travelers alike congregate here for their legendary hot bar and fresh salad selection. The curried chicken salad and the variety of freshly made sushi rolls are consistent crowd-pleasers. Everything leans heavily into wholesome, locally sourced ingredients that reflect the vibrant agricultural output of Maui’s Upcountry farms. It’s the perfect place to grab a picnic lunch before heading out to tackle the twists and turns of the coastal highway.
The Mana Experience
If you're a fan of high-energy, eclectic shopping, this is your spot. Be prepared to navigate tight aisles packed with everything from bulk spices and artisanal nut butters to hard-to-find holistic health supplements. It gets crowded—especially during the midday rush—and you might have to shoulder your way past a surfer hunting for post-session snacks or a local chef sourcing fresh herbs. The parking lot can be a bit of a chaotic dance, so bring your patience. Mana Foods isn’t just a grocery store; it’s a snapshot of the laid-back, health-conscious spirit that defines this iconic North Shore surf town.

Local market with a huge selection of grocery items in a compact space. Lots of hot and cold prepared foods, produce, dairy, pantry staples and breads. Staff was pleasant and restrooms were relatively clean.

Every time I visit Paia, I make a point to stop by Mana Foods. They have the best selection of holistic foods. I can always trust the products they carry are natural. The pricing is fair considering what other health foods stores charge these days. The coffee bar at the front to has great drinks.

The store has a cozy, welcoming vibe that sets it apart from larger chains, and the prices are surprisingly reasonable for Maui. Their bakery and deli section is a real treat, offering fresh, delicious options. However, parking can be challenging, so plan accordingly. Despite this, Mana Foods has quickly become a favorite for its snacks, drinks and dedication to quality, making it a must-visit for both locals and visitors seeking healthy, flavorful groceries.

This place is absolutely fantastic. They have such a great selection of natural foods. It’s very fairly priced and lower than in town. The only thing I saw more expensive was the pineapple was cheaper at Whole Foods super vegan friendly so many baked goods. I wish I could shop here all the time.
