Tony's Catch
About
Ocean-to-Table Simplicity in Kapaa
If you are navigating the main drag through Kapaa, you might blink and miss this unassuming spot, but that would be a mistake. Tony's Catch is where locals go when they want fish that was swimming in Pacific waters just hours before hitting the grill. There is no pretense here—just a clean, straightforward space that smells faintly of charred ginger and sea salt.
The Flavor Profile
The menu centers entirely on the day’s haul. You will typically find perfectly seared Ahi and Ono, prepared with a light touch that favors fresh herbs and local citrus over heavy sauces. The signature poke bowls are the star, featuring thick, buttery chunks of tuna that dissolve on the tongue. Expect the fish to be meaty, tender, and seasoned with just enough shoyu to highlight the natural sweetness of the catch.
What to Expect
The atmosphere is strictly informal. It is an ideal stop for a post-surf lunch or a low-key dinner after a long day of exploring Kauai’s east side. While the service is fast, be prepared to wait a few extra minutes if the kitchen is slammed—it is a small operation, and they prioritize quality over speed. The seating is limited, so most patrons opt for takeout to enjoy at the nearby beach parks. It is loud, it is busy, and it is authentic to the laid-back rhythm of the island.

Watch out for the chickens, they will steal your food!!!!!! Great tasing food! We split the Poke and had one of each, shrimp and fish tacos! Service was great! Very friendly staff who were helpful. The parking is either just past the food trucks on the right, on the street, or across the street!

Although the fish tacos were great, surprisingly the carne asada fries were our favorite dish. Poke was also good

Food truck with picnic tables and some free parking. There is no benefit to paying cash vs card here. If your group wants other options to choose from there are a few other food trucks there. Got 4 pieces of fish with the fish and chips dish. Didn’t think it was out of this world but would satisfy a craving for fish and chips if that’s what you wanted.

Not only was this my first plane ride to Hawaii, but this was also my first fish taco experience and when I say it was THE BEST, I mean it. Everything from the food, to the service was impeccable. The best food I’ve had since I’ve been here.

Ordered the first three items from the menu and there were all delicious! The person even brought the food to our table, a first for us from a food truck. She was very friendly!

I had the fish and chips and it was delicious. The fries were crunchy and the fish was tasty. It was a good portion for both fries and fish. The tables were clean and have umbrellas and you have a view of the ocean.

Amazing seared ahi tostadas. Excellent food truck right off the beach bike path in Kapaà. Ate here twice during our stay on Kauai.

My husband and I stopped here for lunch on our recent trip to Kauaʻi, and the food was amazing, fresh, hot, and so good we ate every last bite! Fair warning: the chickens at this food park are bold. We’ve been to Maui and Oʻahu and never had issues, but these chickens will jump on the table and go straight for your food. One even stole a French fry from my husband’s plate despite his best efforts to escape. A fellow diner confirmed, they are especially aggressive about fries. Don’t let the chickens scare you off though, the food is WORTH IT! Just keep an eye on your plate (and your kids). We’ll definitely be back on our next vacation! 🐔🍟

Absolutely amazing mahi-mahi fish tacos. And these pinto beans, I don’t even know what was in them, de’lish!. I wanted an extra portion of the magical fruit. Even the rice, and I know what you’re thinking “dude, it’s just Spanish rice”, but you take the half lime that they give you with your plate and squeeze it on top of that rice and the beans…hold on to your 4x4 Tacoma, gonna be some of the best rice and beans you ever had. Without putting in a whole lot of empirical data or cross analysis, this might be my favorite meal on the island, just sayin.

We found this place on Google and it was delicious! It's a great place to eat adjacent to the ocean. I got the fish tacos that were out of this world and hubby got the shrimp tacos. Said they were also delicious. They had Coca-Cola which also gave them bonus points in my book and brought our tacos to us at the picnic tables. Also bonus was they were open at 1030am as we were hungry!!!
