Lava Lava Beach Club (420 Papaloa Rd)
About
Toes in the Sand Dining on Kauai's East Side
There are few places in Kapaa where the line between the dining room and the Pacific Ocean effectively disappears. At this beachfront staple, the sound of crashing waves acts as the backdrop to every meal, providing a quintessential island atmosphere that feels equal parts relaxed and celebratory. You aren't just sitting at a table; you are perched on the edge of the Coconut Coast, often with your literal toes digging into the sand while you wait for a handcrafted mai tai.
The Culinary Pulse of the Coconut Coast
The menu focuses on Pacific Rim flavors that highlight local catch and island-grown produce. Guests frequently gravitate toward the fresh poke bowls or the beer-battered fish tacos, which are best paired with the signature house-made lava flow cocktails. Executive Chef and culinary team members prioritize sourcing ingredients from Kauai farmers, ensuring that the pineapple and coconut influences taste as vibrant as the scenery.
What to Expect When You Visit
This spot thrives on a casual, barefoot-luxury aesthetic. It is perfect for families wanting a laid-back sunset dinner or travelers looking for that postcard-worthy photo op. Be mindful that parking in this part of Kapaa can get tight during peak sunset hours, so arriving a bit early is a smart play. The open-air architecture invites the salt air in, meaning your hair might get a little windblown, but that is part of the charm. Whether you are catching a local acoustic musician performing under the palms or simply watching the tide turn from your wooden chair, the experience is designed to strip away the stress of mainland life.

Phenomenal place for drinks and food with a great view of the ocean. First of all their selection perfect. Good mixture of seafood, flatbreads and other bar staples. Can't go wrong woth their drinks, plus a few offer a souvenir coconut cup. To top it all off they are right on the beach which provides with a wonderful chance to stare off into the ocean or dip your toes in the water.

Lava Lava beach club is a must when in Kauai, the atmosphere you get is beautiful. It’s right on the beach, if you sit outside you can literally put your feet in the sand. Servers were very friendly, great customer service. Food was pretty good, although for the price I would say it’s okay. There’s a lot of good fish options on the island, but the hilight of this place is definitely the atmosphere and staff.

We got 2 pizzas for happy hour. The mushroom & pesto one was good. I didn't like the chicken, fried onion, one. My drink was good with citron vodka in it. The gift shop wanted $40 for a T-shirt. I think it was a bit overpriced!

A wonderful location for an early dinner. It is less crowded and service is good. A good menu selection for most people. Sitting outside is comfortable with a nice view of the ocean and mountains. As good as the best on the island. Parking can be a problem unless you use the free valet service. A nice walk along the ocean is an option before or after dinner. A good choice.

Gorgeous View! Our server was FANTASTIC and answered all our questions giving us more information about the cocktails themselves which was actually very interesting. We sat outside and we able to enjoy the gorgeous beach view as well. Very little parking but they do offer Valet. Menu is also a bit pricy but definitely are paying for the view and everything is delicious so very worth it. Thank you for the great time!
