Moa Moa Hawaiian Fish House
About
Ocean-to-Table Flavors in the Heart of Kapaa
Stepping into Moa Moa Hawaiian Fish House feels like catching a glimpse of Kauai’s coastal lifestyle. Located right in the vibrant town of Kapaa, this spot prioritizes the catch of the day, turning local bounty into thoughtfully prepared plates that celebrate the islands' culinary heritage. The space is bright and casual, making it an ideal anchor for a post-beach lunch or a relaxed dinner while roaming the East Side of the island.
The Catch of the Moment
The menu shifts based on what the local fishing boats bring in, ensuring that the opah or monchong hitting your plate is as fresh as possible. You’ll find the preparation leans into classic Hawaiian preparations, with a heavy emphasis on house-made glazes and perfectly seared textures. The aroma of citrus-infused steam and blackened seasonings usually drifts through the dining room, signaling that the kitchen is busy at work.
Why Locals and Visitors Stop By
This is the kind of place where you leave your sandals by the door. The atmosphere is unpretentious, defined by the clatter of silverware and the hum of travelers sharing stories from the North Shore drive. It is a fantastic choice for those who want to avoid the starchier resort dining experiences in favor of something authentic and approachable. Be aware that the space is intimate; during the dinner rush, the acoustics can get quite lively, and street parking in Kapaa requires a bit of patience, but the plate of fish waiting for you makes the minor logistical challenge well worth the effort.

Fantastic dining spot near the beach. Moa Moa is a very nice upscale restaurant on the property of the Sheraton Hotel. Food is excellent and service is excellent. Our server, Ridge, offered recommendations when asked and was very attentive. Bonus: if you’re there around sunset, hundreds of parakeets fly in from the mountains to rest in the palm trees on the property.

My son who is 9 years old absolutely loved the steamed clams here. In fact after eating the clams here he kept trying to order it during dinner after this experience. I had a yummy Mahi Mahi entree and husband enjoyed a seafood special. The ambiance was great and service was quite attentive. We loved eating here.

Do not order the waygu steak. It was definitely closer to A1 grade and even after I sent it back for another steak it was still a poor cut of meat. My wife’s was also the same. Pretty much just a basic store bought steak

My husband and I had a nice dinner here on our first night at the resort. Art was our server; he was incredibly friendly and helpful in recommending dishes since we were celebrating our honeymoon. The food was amazing, delicious and high in quality and freshness. Great service, beautiful ambiance, and overall wonderful experience!

A memorable evening at this lovely oceanside restaurant with welcoming staff and artfully prepared food. From start to finish we relished dishes with local ingredients - the Endive Salad, chef special Blue Marlin, and Mochi Lilikoi Cheesecake were to die for! Art, Lehua and Alicia provided wonderful hospitality which included a serenade. We felt like it was a private anniversary celebration!

We enjoyed our experience at Moamoa for our 20th wedding anniversary. The food was wonderful but most of all, the staff was absolutely amazing, especially our server, Art! He made our anniversary a very memorable one. He presented me the lei he was wearing, which he handmade himself, and then even sang to us! Highly recommend! Thank you Moamoa staff, and especially Art for making our night so special!

Delicious! The food was savory and flavourful. We enjoyed the customer service. "Art" was awesome. It sits inside the Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort. Anyone can make reservations. Give them a try.

Highly recommend this restaurant! So good to the point that I’m writing this review back at the hotel right after (we’re staying at the actual hotel that the restaurant is located in (Sheraton Kauai Coconut Beach Resort) & it’s just all around incredible! Dinner was phenomenal! You could taste every spice/flavor; and the presentation of the food was also 10/10! Our server, Chad, was also extremely attentive & super friendly! Definitely need to add both this restaurant & the hotel to your list when you visit Kauai!

Normally, we don’t eat at hotel restaurants but circumstances changed that for this occasion. We enjoyed sitting outside on the patio for breakfast. Skip the boring buffet of omelets and potatoes and get something off the a la carte menu. We were glad we did. The loco moco and the lomi salmon bagel were more than enough food for two. We probably could’ve split just one and been fine. When other tables saw our order, they ordered the same.
