A Tropical Escape Above the Kapaa Skyline

Perched high above the bustling streets of Kapaa, Mamahune's offers an unfiltered slice of Kauai’s vintage tiki culture. As you step onto the open-air deck, the scent of salt air mixes with the sharp, sweet aroma of freshly squeezed lime and pineapple from the bar. This isn't a place for hushed conversations; the space thrives on the hum of locals unwinding and the clinking of glasses echoing against the backdrop of the Pacific breeze.

Crafted Libations and Island Comfort

The menu leans heavily into the classics of Polynesian-inspired mixology. You’ll find the signature Mai Tais here are potent and balanced, avoiding the cloying syrups found in tourist traps elsewhere on the island. Pair these with their popular pupu platters, designed for sharing while you watch the sky turn deep orange over the horizon. The fish tacos are a recurring favorite, highlighting the fresh catch sourced from nearby coastal waters.

The Local Rhythm

There is a raw, unpolished charm to Mamahune's that keeps the regulars coming back. It’s the kind of spot where the floorboards might creak underfoot and the parking can be a bit of a scramble during the peak sunset hour, but that’s all part of the local character. Whether you are coming off a long day of hiking the Sleeping Giant trail or just looking for a spot to kick back after exploring the Coconut Coast, the vibe here is decidedly laid-back. Come for the stiff drinks, stay for the breeze, and don't expect a formal dress code—this is Kapaa living at its most authentic.

It's bar food with a great view. Happy hour prices are always a plus. The service was great and our food came out fast.

Don’t let the name fool you or that it’s part of a Hilton. It’s an ABSOLUTE tourist trap and we fell for it. Really bad $17 rum cocktails and really mid food. DO NOT EAT. This place is good for a view and a beer and that’s it. Don’t come here looking for dinner or good drinks. Spent over $110 for 3 people.

The folks tending the bar and cooking the food are fantastic. Best part of staying at the Hilton Garden Inn. Considering it's such a small, open-to-view kitchen, they really do a great job. Great views and great beer.

Other than the cost of the drinks. This place was excellent 👌 The drinks at times did not seem consistent or balanced. We really enjoyed the coconut shrimp. The view and environment is very nice as well. Feels like it is part of the Hilton resort but is open to the public too.

Do yourself a favor and go to Manahunes tiki bar and enjoy a Mai Tai, I recommend the Trader Macs. The food is great too, we had the coconut shrimp and the double double waygu burger. Absolutely delicious

Cute bar overlooking the beach, but our nachos were so gross… see picture for how oily/soupy the bottom was. Nachos should not be swimming like that, especially not nachos I spent $30 on. The menu online isn’t accurate, nachos were about $22 without the pork and guacamole, I added both of those at an extra cost and it was about $30.

Returned here after a 2 year absence. We came from San Diego and the Big Kahuna Burger with truffle fries is the best I’ve ever tasted. Great job Mamahune’s. The service and atmosphere just makes it that much better.

The view is crazy amazing and we loved hangin with the chickens and roosters. Best beach right across the way. With picnic tables showers fresh water sinks and drinking fountain. Huge playground. All with amazing turquoise ocean view.

Hidden gem in plain sight - casual and fun outdoor location with a great cocktail menu and surprisingly good food. I tend to be skeptical of hotel restaurants but this one was awesome. Went back more than once for Poke Nachos and their salad was awesome. Relaxed outdoor seating with an amazing view of the ocean. Friendly staff.

🇦🇺Seaside atmosphere and live music with a beach view and great mood lighting. The food is just ok and resort expensive. Our two meals were delivered separately with a long wait in between despite being ordered together. The food was mediocre at best. Our server, A, was anxious her shift was ending and obviously pushing for us to order last drinks. When we did we requested an additional water. After leaving a generous tip we didn’t hear from her again nor receive the water even after reminding her. Other bar staff were friendly and they have some nice beers and cocktails.
