Greek Gyro Stand
About
A Mediterranean Escape in the Heart of Kapaa
When the humidity of the Kauai coast hits its peak, there is something remarkably grounding about the scent of searing lamb and warm pita. Greek Gyro Stand provides a no-frills, open-air solution for those craving sharp, savory Mediterranean flavors amidst the lush backdrop of Kapaa town.
The Art of the Spit
This roadside gem centers its kitchen around the classic vertical rotisserie. You will hear the sizzle of meat hitting the flat top as you approach the window. The signature gyros here are built to be messy—shaved portions of spiced protein are tucked into fluffy pita, topped with house-made tzatziki that carries a genuine cucumber crunch and just the right amount of garlic bite.
Why Locals Keep Coming Back
It is the perfect pit stop for hikers coming down from the East Side trails or beach-goers looking for a fast, filling meal that beats the heavy sit-down tourist options. The space is decidedly informal; you are eating at picnic tables under the open sky, which means you might have to dodge a stray rooster or contend with a quick afternoon shower if the wind picks up. It is part of the charm of island dining.
If you are looking for fresh vegetables, their Greek salads are surprisingly crisp, utilizing local produce whenever available. Pair your meal with a side of feta-dusted fries if you really want to lean into the indulgence. It is quick, it is loud with the hum of passing traffic, and it remains one of the most reliable lunch spots for anyone traversing the main Kapaa corridor.

Just arrived in Kauai for the winter and great fortune brought me to this fabulous restaurant for my first meal. The food is freshly prepared with such divine tastiness and creativity, all based on family recipes. The Greek Gods would be envious of my experience, and one I’d like to repeat many times over in the weeks and months ahead!

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant. We made a reservation to take our family out before our daughter leaves to go back east. We arrived and were seated on time, our kids came in 5 minutes later. After 20 minutes sitting at the table my wife politely reminded the hostess we ready. After 10 more minutes we realized the party seated after us had already gotten Salads. We then politely stated that were there before that party and the hostess acknowledged it. We then sat without any eye contact let alone an apology. So after 37 minutes we left without ever being spoken to by a server. I am in no way a complainer and tip well because I understand it's a tough business but there is a threshold. So our kids went for Mexican and my wife and I went home and cooked. I hope other people have a better experience than we did.

It was like a little vacation in greece!!! The food was great, authentic and very yammy. Tzaziki, Moussaka and Gyros. Big portions! Also the red wine was tasty. And the blue white Ambiente was very Mediterranean! Service was very thoughtfully and the kitchen was fast. We will come back! For sure

Had the lamb gyro, very delicious. Prices are maybe a bit high but the amount of food you get is really good. Sitting outside can be loud, but we were warned before hand which was nice & chose to sit inside. Great greek food!

Zorbas is new but has a lot of potential. The flavors for everything were spot on but minor changes will put them on the next level. Get the Avolemono soup and moussaka. The Greek salad was a bit over dressed but tasted great. The portion size on mains is big.

Happy to have this class act in the neighborhood. We enjoyed a delicious meal and top notch service during the soft opening and expect to indulge in take-out regularly. Zorba's serves generous portions and extras. From food truck to gyro stand to fine dining, Chef George has a great reputation with us.
