Pho Viet Thai
About
A for Vietnamese and Thai Fusion
Tucked away in the Windward side of Oahu, Pho Viet Thai serves as a reliable go-to for locals craving bold, aromatic broths and spicy stir-frys. When you step inside this Kaneohe establishment, you are greeted by the hum of casual conversation and the unmistakable, deep scent of star anise and charred ginger radiating from the kitchen.
The Kitchen’s Signature Strengths
The menu bridges the gap between classic Vietnamese pho and vibrant Thai curries. The beef pho is the clear standout; the broth is clear yet complex, simmered for hours to capture that savory richness that defines a great bowl. For those preferring Thai profiles, the Pad Thai arrives with a distinct balance of tamarind tang and crushed peanut crunch, while the green curry offers a sharp, herbal heat that lingers just long enough. It is the kind of cooking that prioritizes substance over presentation.
What to Expect
The setting is strictly no-frills, making it an ideal spot for a quick lunch break or a low-key weeknight dinner where the priority is food quality over atmosphere. Note that the dining area can feel a bit snug during the lunch rush, and parking in the surrounding shopping area requires a little patience, but the efficiency of the staff keeps things moving quickly. It is an unpretentious environment that values speed and authenticity above all else, perfect for anyone exploring the Windward Oahu food scene who wants a hearty meal without the fuss of a formal bistro.

11/8 updated review: came back with family. Service was alot better. The food we tried this time was delicious. I tried the curry chicken with rice. Chicken was soft, tender white meat and taro (i think) mixed in. Good combination and the curry is now my favorite with Bac Nams curry as a close second. Hint of spice (not sure what was used), sweet and mildly spicy. Two in our family got combination pho, they said it had good flavor and is there go-to for pho. Two others also tried the vermicelli with chicken and spring rolls. The chicken this time was also tender, soft and flavorful. I'm definitely going to order it next time. 1st review in October: The service was a little weird during our visit. The restaurant was quite slow, but it took a surprisingly long time for us to be serviced. Since it is a very small place, the activity in the kitchen is quite visible. Regardless, the restaurant was clean and has enough space to comfortably seat about five families of four. The tables share the sauces, so we had to wait and ask for them when another table was finished. My parents and other family members have visited this spot many times. This was my first visit, and I really enjoyed the lemongrass chicken plate. It had a great balance of garlic and lemongrass flavor, though it was a bit dry. The spring rolls appetizer was well-cooked and crispy. I definitely need to come back to try the other dishes as this is my parents go-to Vietnamese restaurant in Kaneohe.

Authentic Vietnamese food! Special combination pho, banh mi, and papaya salad were all excellent. Highly recommend you give them a shot. Very nice people working there.

Flavorless food. I got the chicken pad thai which was missing some key ingredients like green onion, thai basil and a lime wedge. The summer rolls were probably some of the worst ive ever had. There was only chicken, rice noodles and lettuce in them. No basil, no carrot. The peanut sauce was absolutely tasteless. It wasnt peanut flavored at all, not salty or sweet. It was like a bland brown gravy at best. I will not go back here.
