Kin Sun Restaurant
About
A Neighborhood Staple for Cantonese Classics
Tucked away in the heart of Kaneohe, Kin Sun Restaurant serves as a reliable cornerstone for locals craving honest, no-frills Chinese cuisine. This is the kind of place where the kitchen prioritizes flavor over flash, offering a menu that leans heavily into traditional Cantonese comfort dishes.
Savoring the Kaneohe Style
Stepping inside, the atmosphere is utilitarian and bustling, characterized by the clatter of porcelain plates and the aromatic drift of ginger and scallion stir-fry wafting from the kitchen. It is an ideal spot for a quick lunch or a casual family dinner where the focus remains strictly on the food. Frequent diners often gravitate toward their signature roast duck, known for its crisp, lacquered skin and succulent meat, as well as their steaming pots of congee.
The Local Experience
Part of the charm of dining at this Windward Oahu establishment is the unpretentious nature of the space. While you might encounter a wait for a table during the peak Sunday morning dim sum rush—or find that the parking lot gets a bit tight during the lunch hour—the trade-off is consistently prepared food at accessible price points. Whether you are grabbing a plate of char siu mein or sharing a selection of steamed dumplings with friends, the experience feels like a true slice of Kaneohe community life. Bring a hearty appetite and an appreciation for classic recipes that have kept this neighborhood favorite busy for years.

Lady who help me, was very unfair and rude!! I ordered a container of chow fun, and it was not fun and I chow it down still hungry, cause the server fluff the noodles in container like it came full but it was a rip off. I push the noodles down a little in the container it was half full. I will never go there no more. Bad business!!! I also bought 1/2 lbs of roast pork and char siu. I ask for mustard, she just gave me a tiny container that would not last for the meats to dip. Hawaii people and visitors beware of the fraud, that this business do. Kin sun is bad news!!!

I was very surprised and happy when I first saw some hometown food from this shop. I decided to order a 3 choice plate. They gave me too much white rice and very little meat and vegetables. After I finished all the meat and vegetables in about 30 seconds, I decided to add one more choice , but they told me I need to pay $10 extra to one more choice. I was assuming all Chinese are good at math. Obviously, that Chinese lady is an exception. I would never come back again to this restaurant.

Down home Chinese fast food. I’m no expert on what qualifies as “authentic Chinese” but this certainly did not feel like Americanized Chinese food. We ate Jai, egg fooyun, with white rice. Very tasty. The server was energetic and entertaining while making helpful recommendations.
