Kim Chee Restaurant (46-010 Kamehameha Hwy)
About
A Neighborhood Staple in Windward Oahu
Walking into Kim Chee Restaurant on Kamehameha Highway feels like stepping into a local Kaneohe tradition. This unassuming spot is where Windward residents head when they crave straightforward, no-frills Korean comfort food. The air carries the sharp, fermented tang of house-made cabbage, and the hiss of the grill is the constant soundtrack of the dining room.
The Flavor of Tradition
The menu leans heavily into local Korean-Hawaiian fusion favorites. Their meat jun is a standout—thinly sliced beef coated in a delicate, golden egg batter that balances perfectly with a side of their signature spicy dipping sauce. The kalbi is charred just enough to catch the smoke, served alongside portions of bean sprouts and kimchi that provide the essential acid to cut through the richness of the beef. It is hearty, unpretentious cooking that focuses entirely on flavor rather than presentation.
What to Expect
Expect a functional dining space that prioritizes speed and utility. It is an ideal stop for a quick lunch after a morning spent at the nearby Kaneohe Bay sandbar or a casual weeknight dinner when you don't feel like cooking. Be mindful that parking can get a bit tight during peak lunch hours as the lot serves a variety of businesses along this busy stretch of the highway. The service is efficient and direct, characteristic of a place that has been serving the Kaneohe community for years without needing to shout about it. If you want a meal that tastes like home-cooked Korean fare without the ceremony, this is the destination.

I ordered shoyu chicken & meat jun plate for $14.99 special and it came with 2 scoops of rice and more vegetatables on plate al also additional side dishes, which the server told me I could have a refill if I want to. When I got to try the food it tasted so good and also with the side dish. This is a very good price for a korean restaurant. The service was also great so it really made it a great visit.

10/10 highly recommend They’re pretty darn fast. I used to go there a lot as a kid and so I decided to stop by and see if they’re still good. They’re def still good, menu hasn’t changed and that’s a good thing. Con: parking is a problem kinda sorta just be aware.

Amazing food! Large amounts and very tasty. The family pack can feed more than 5 people and I think it was a fair price. Parking could be a problem but in our case, we didn’t have any issues. Staff was friendly and attentive. I would definitely come back if I were a local.
