Fatboy's
About
Island-Style Comfort in the Heart of Windward Oahu
Stepping into Fatboy's in Kaneohe, you are immediately hit with the savory, charcoal-scented aroma of grilled meats. This is a local institution for anyone craving a no-frills, hearty plate lunch that defines the Hawaii dining experience. The atmosphere is casual and bustling, characterized by the rhythmic clatter of plastic trays and the sound of local radio playing over the hum of the kitchen hood. It is the kind of place where you come for the food, not the fluff—perfect for a quick lunch break or a post-beach haul when you need something substantial.
The Signature Garlic Experience
The culinary identity here is firmly rooted in the local obsession with bold flavors. Their famous Garlic Chicken remains the undisputed heavyweight on the menu, featuring bite-sized pieces fried to a golden crunch and tossed in a punchy, buttery garlic sauce that demands a side of extra rice to soak up the drippings. Portions are generous, bordering on intimidating, staying true to the tradition of local plate lunch culture across Oahu.
Navigating the Windward Vibe
While the food delivers on consistency and flavor, keep in mind that the lot can get cramped during peak lunch hours. Patience is a virtue here, but the efficiency of the staff keeps the line moving. Whether you are grabbing a meal before heading over to the Ko'olau mountains or simply looking for an authentic taste of Kaneohe, Fatboy's offers a straightforward, satisfying bite that hits the spot without pretense.

my family of 5 came here for my birthday dinner. we arrived around 20 mins after opening and they told us the wait would be 60-90 mins. we ended up going to the garden to take some photos then waited in our car for the rest of the time. we ended up getting seated over 90 mins later. we got sat at a table with an amazing view, and got drinks and complimentary bread while we waited for the entrees. the entrees took a while to come out, about 30 mins after ordering. the portions are massive! we got the prime rib (32oz), a full stack of bbq ribs, coconut shrimp, and steamed fish. for dessert we got the paradise pie and the baby cake. the baby cake has a raspberry puree on it which was kind of unique (i’d rate it a 3/5), but the paradise pie was amazing!! overall, plan to spend your entire night at this restaurant, because it’s definitely an experience. the service was slower than expected, but the food and view made up for it. i’d give this place a 4/5, just because of how long we had to wait. in total with tip, the bill came out to a little over $400.

Wow! This place was spectacular! The views made us feel like we were in a movie! The service was top notch. We got there about 6 and asked for a table on the balcony we were seated 30 minutes later! While you wait you can stroll through the rainforest! How magical! The food was too die for and they know how to make some good drinks! It was on the pricier side but that was expected. We will for sure come back if we visit again ♥️

Definitely a great place for dinner. The service was friendly and attentive. It was crowded and we waited 1hour 45 minutes but totally worth it. There's a pond on the premises with a gazebo for great pictures while waiting. The food was fantastic. We got the primerib which was enormous and cooked perfectly. The raw and creamy horseradish were perfect. The scoop of mashed potato was so creamy and tasty. This is unheard of for 79$. Please don't change. Also got the Cesar salad which was fresh and dressing was spot on. Also got the seafood chowder whis was perfect consistency and had chunks of flavorful fish and clams. Overall a perfect dinner! This is a must do while in Oahu.
