A Bowl of Comfort in the Heart of Kailua-Kona

When you find yourself craving something soul-warming amidst the heat of the Big Island, TK Noodle House serves as a reliable retreat. Tucked away from the main tourist drag, this spot captures the unassuming charm of a local favorite, where the scent of star anise and simmering beef bone broth greets you the moment you step inside.

The Art of the Slurp

The menu centers on classic Vietnamese comfort, with their Pho taking center stage. The broth is clear, aromatic, and deeply savory—a product of patient simmering. Regulars often customize their bowls with a handful of fresh Thai basil, crunchy bean sprouts, and a generous squeeze of lime to balance the richness. Beyond the noodle soups, their crispy spring rolls offer a satisfying crunch that plays perfectly against the softer textures of the vermicelli plates.

Local Vibe and Practical Realities

The atmosphere is strictly no-frills, designed for those who prioritize flavor over pretense. It is the kind of place where you’ll see residents grabbing a quick lunch break between errands. Be aware that the space is compact, and during the peak lunch hour, it can get quite lively, which adds to the neighborhood buzz. You might have to navigate tight parking, but the reward of a hot, authentic meal makes the effort well worth it. Whether you are looking for a quick bite after a day at the beach or a consistent go-to spot in West Hawaii, TK Noodle House delivers straightforward, honest food without the island markup.

Really enjoyed this meal. The garlic shrimp was flavorful, crispy, and loaded with toasted garlic, and the rice and salad made it a well-balanced plate. The beef ribs pho was rich, creamy, and comforting, with tender meat and fresh vegetables. Generous portions, great flavors, and a very satisfying experience overall. Highly recommend.

Had an amazing meal! Got the beef ribs and garlic shrimp plate with calamari and the potstickers. All taste so good and were perfectly cooked. The main was more than enough for two people, the serving and quality is definitely worth the price. Service and environment also great!

We came at 9pm. Almost dine in but saw a notice that there’s an 18% service fee for dining in after 9pm. Staffs were friendly. We got the papaya salad with shrimp and chicken pad thai, food was not bad, but also not good. Wouldn’t come back since price is also pretty steep. They have free desserts for 5-star Google reviews so… 👀

Got the beef rib pho for ~$32 (15% service fee for dine-in) and it was incredible! The food came out within 5 minutes so I think they have them kind of ready since many people order it. One bowl was more than enough for my husband and I to share. The broth was soothing, hot and comforting. Leans slightly on the saltier side which I liked. The beef rib itself was tender and delicious. Ambiance is.. not the nicest. Kind of cold and uncomfortable, no soft cushions or lighting or anything. But we were just there for the food so it’s fine.

By the time we got back from stargazing at the observatory, it was already 9 PM. It’s usually tough to find good food on the Big Island that late, but thank goodness for TK. We ordered the Short Ribs and the Tom Yum Soup with Udon. The soup was delicious—the cilantro and onions were perfectly prepped, adding so much flavor. The beef came with shrimp crackers, which created such a great texture contrast with the fried shrimp and steak. It was such a warm, comforting meal for a late night!

Came here at 9pm after a night scuba dive because everything else with vegan options was closed. They do have clearly marked vegan/vegetarian options (but only on their paper menu, not the digital screen). Staff was kind and helpful when clarifying about the ingredients in the food. The whole restaurant is very animal product heavy but they were happy to sub tofu for several of their dishes. We ordered the lilikoi chicken (tofu) and the pad thai (tofu). Servings are huge! Both were $20 and one order was probably enough to feed two. The actual taste of the food was okay… I don’t think we’d come back as vegans unless we had no other options. I’m sure the non-vegan crowd probably have different experiences. For everyone, be aware there are several additional charges: - 3% surcharge for credit/debit card transactions - 18% surcharge for parties of 4+ - 18% surcharge for dine in after 8:30pm Not sure if the last 2 compound if you’re a part of 4 dining in after 8:30pm but… that is wild.

Excellent food! we got the beef ribs kimchi fried rice and spicy beef ribs udon soup. Beef was tender and flavorful. Only downside was that they ran out of oxtail. Would come here again.

I visited on a Sunday night, the place is huge with tons of seating! The food is fantastic, and the prices are reasonable. The beef ribs pho and the Chicharon are tasty, but it’s a bit too salty for my taste. Still, I’d definitely recommend it!

This is THE BEST PORK BELLY on the Island. Its close to the Ali'i drive so you can park and walk there or drive to the restaurant and park. Make sure to get your parking validated. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING on their menu is amazing. So you will not go wrong. The pho is phonomenal! The smoothies with Boba are so good too. Can't go wrong with any of it. The family who owns it are really sweet! Our kids always plays with their little boy whenever we come. I will say the price is on the pricey side. For 2 people, with smoothies, you're about $70 in. For 3 of us last time, was almost $100. We go at least twice per visit to the island. They are worth it!

Excellent. I usually don’t give out 5 stars but this place did deserve it. The broth was rich and the depth of flavor was superb. We also had a variety of milk teas and Shrimp Tempura Udon. The service was great too. Ambiance was quaint and the staff were amazing too. Definitely a must go when visiting the big island.
