The Peacock Grill
About
Island Elegance Meets Kona Casual
When you find yourself wandering the sun-drenched streets of Kailua-Kona, The Peacock Grill serves as a vibrant anchor for those seeking a genuine taste of Hawaii. This spot manages to balance the laid-back rhythm of the Big Island with a menu that highlights the ocean’s bounty. The interior leans into an open-air concept, where the scent of salt air mingles with the charred aroma of kiawe-grilled proteins.
The Culinary Signature
The kitchen leans heavily into locally sourced ingredients. You will often find the catch of the day arriving fresh from the harbor just miles away, seared to perfection with a crust of macadamia nuts or local herbs. It is the kind of place where the cocktails are garnished with hibiscus, and the conversation is as lively as the surrounding tropical foliage. Be prepared for the energetic acoustics of a busy night; the space echoes with the clinking of glasses and the hum of travelers sharing stories from their day at the beach.
A Local Perspective
While the food excels, keep in mind that the Kailua-Kona breeze carries more than just fragrance—it occasionally brings a bit of humidity, so dress for island comfort. Finding a spot for your rental car can be a bit of a dance during sunset hours, but the trade-off is a front-row seat to one of the most spectacular coastal horizons in Hawaii. Whether you are coming in straight from a snorkeling trip or dressing up for a quiet evening by the Pacific, this establishment offers a slice of authentic Kona culture that feels both intentional and refreshingly unpretentious.

What more could you ask for than Surf‘n‘Turf midtown with an oceanview! Thanks for the delicious dinner and friendly service. The wine was just all right, but the dessert toped it all! Many reasons to make this your go-to place. I did return indeed!

Big Kahuna Beach Grill was wonderful! We ordered burgers and they were delicious. Our server Brian, was great and gave us tips for places to visit. We had a lovely breeze blowing through the open air restaurant and a beautiful view of the bay. The manager, Taylor was also wonderful. She came around and checked everything was good and also gave us tips of other restaurants to go to in Hilo. We definitely recommend!!

Beautiful view! We had reservation for certain table, we got there & someone else was eating there. Not a big deal, got a different table. Sat there 20 min & the waiter hadn’t even asked us about drinks. Finally another lady took over & she was nice to deal with! The real waiter with others also just seemed like chaos!

On our girls trip to Kona we decided to have breakfast/brunch at Big Kahunas. The service was great, they validate parking, the drinks and meal were delicious. We ended up eating here again for dinner on our final night. Forgot to get pictures.

Delicious food and drinks! The Spicy Pineapple Margarita is a must-try. We loved the Shorey Omelette and the Purist French Toast, especially with a side of Portuguese sausage. Great service and beautiful views of Kailua Bay makes this spot a must-visit while in Kona.

We all loved the Poke bowls! Definitely our favorite poke bowl on the island! You can tell they make fresh meals and the chef cares. So flavorful! Mia was the bartender and server and did an exceptional job! Definitely coming back next year.

Great located restaurant. We went there for dinner and breakfast. Food was delicious, especially breakfast- the omelet was very tasty and egg Benedict. Staff very friendly, addressing your needs. The only thing-their coffee needs a little kick. Way too much water where Kona is famous for great coffee.

It is on the second floor, which gives you good ocean views and views of Ali'i Drive. The food has great flavors and a great variety. They also have a great variety of drinks. The Loco Moco has a different twist which give it more of a breakfast taste, which is a nice twist. You have to try it very good.

Most enjoyable place to eat for some of the best clam chowder around with the blend of clams and Mahi Mahi, Philly Steak and Fish abs Chips absolutely did not disappoint. From the very moment we arrived at the top of the stairs the excellence in service awaited us with an amazing smile and greet from the hostess and service from then on. We were checked on many times and were also greeted and checked on by the manager as well. Food was fast and very tasty with a flavor and view that matched. Glad we made this a stop before heading back to California. Thanks to all the staff at Big Kahuna Beach Grill! Top notch.
