Safeway Deli (25 Kaneohe Bay Drive)

If i could rate this any lower i would. First i want to start off by saying I’ve been coming to this Safeway location for the last three years and today was the first time I decided to try one of the sandwiches prepared from the deli. I was excited since the smoked turkey sounded good but my overall experience was extremely disappointing. To start off I have never ordered from the deli before so i wasn’t too sure. When the unmotivated long haired guy came up to take my ordered i had no idea if i was ordering at the right counter but with his lack of words i still didn’t know! Not only did it take him 15 minutes (maybe im exaggerating, but i don’t think so) he did not communicate with me whatsoever about toppings or of i wanted my sandwich warm or if it only came cold because like i mentioned I’ve never ordered from the deli before so i had no idea. Since it took FOREVER to get my sandwich i wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt and maybe thought once i got home to enjoy the sandwich that took an eternity to make maybe it was going to be the most beautiful sandwich I’ve ever seen. Not only was i extremely disappointed, i became a little depressed. Again, not all the blame is on his unmotivated, lack of communication self, i will admit i should have spoken up when i had the chance. My first time experience ordering a sandwich from the deli was an over 0/10.

I am an Instacart shopper and my customer asked for 3 items from the seafood department (poke varieties and such) well, the bar code was reflecting the incorrect item even though I knew it was the correct item. ALAN was so kind, helpful, and very patient. And most importantly he had the knowledge needed to help me by making a new label with the correct bar code so I could complete my shopping for the customer. If not for Alan’s help, I don’t know what I would have done. I am very appreciative for the excellent customer service I received from Alan and it’s always nice to be helped by employees who know their jobs well.

Produce section seems smaller than other safeway on the island with less selection. Popular with military, I'm sure inventory is adjusted to meet their unique demographic.

Good size grocery with bakery, produce, flowers, liquor. And small enough to get in and out quickly

Just had the rudest cashier. A young local who maybe doesn't appreciate mainland haole? They were friendly and nice to the customers in front of me...but immediately sour with me. I'm not here on vacation, I'm an engineer here for a project. I'm glad I have choices on where to shop.

Generally we have good experiences here. Access to the customary daily goods is fairly consistent and specials can be cost-savers. Staff are typically helpful. Public restrooms not always carefully attended to. Revisited the store to take advantage of a great price on frozen shrimp. We took 2 bags of extra-large shrimp to the checkout counter, where they rang up at the usual price. The helpful employee checked the newspaper add and helped us realize the sale price applied only to large shrimp. We both searched the freezer section and found extra-large, jumbo, and colossal size in abundance, but there were none of the large size. It would have been nice if she were empowered to apply a discount to the next AVAILABLE size, but we left without the shrimp we came to the store for, but we appreciated the thoughtfulness and extra effort from the staff.

Kaneohe Bay Safeway experience. Several times I was going to a little get together with some friends and decided to take several containers of chicken wings and I went to Safeway and upon going to the chicken wing display I found the section had no wings. They normally have about four different types of prepared wings. So, I stand in line at the counter to ask when the wings where coming out. The response I got was - " We are out of chicken wings and we are not having any today." What a situation for a store not to have their stock supply available. Plus it was only 9:00 a.m. in the morning. I then went to Foodland to make my purchase and they where fully stocked up with the product. Another time I went on a Friday to purchase a meat loaf and only to be told it would be ready in about 45 minutes. I guess you can't count on Safeway to have their products available when you need them. You can plan but it seems you always need a back up plan if you are dealing with Safeway Kaneohe Bay. Prior to these incidents I told several people about the chicken wings that I purchased and how good they were. Now I tell them - if you are lucky you might get some but don't count on it. The product is good but I guess their inventory ordering must be way off in their projection and the execution for cooking time needs to be supervised better.
