Roasted Toasted Cafe
About
Fuel Your Morning in the Heart of Kailua-Kona
Stepping into Roasted Toasted Cafe feels like finding a quiet pocket of calm amid the tropical energy of the Big Island. Located just off the main Ali'i Drive thoroughfare, this spot captures the essence of a laid-back Hawaiian morning. The air is consistently thick with the rich, nutty aroma of locally sourced 100% Kona coffee, ground fresh for every pour-over.
Island-Style Comforts
The menu leans into what the island does best: simple, hearty breakfasts. You will find breakfast bagels that actually hold their integrity, topped with generous portions of savory meats and fresh avocado. It is the kind of place where locals linger over iced lattes while tourists try to figure out their snorkeling logistics. While the seating area is compact—making for an intimate, sometimes bustling acoustic environment—it is perfect for grabbing a quick bite before heading down to the bay.
Why Kona Locals Choose This Spot
If you are looking for a break from the hotel buffet scene, this cafe delivers a more authentic, unpretentious experience. The staff knows the regulars by name, and the pace is set to 'island time,' so expect a short wait while they perfect your espresso drink. It is a genuine neighborhood fixture for anyone wandering through the coastal stretch of Kailua-Kona. Just a heads up: the street parking can get competitive during the mid-morning rush, so be prepared to walk a block if you arrive after 9:00 AM.

Amazing owner, hard workers, and a talented chief come together to deliver an experience to die for! I am addicted to this place and when I want something fresh as in freshly cut and sourced from local fisherman alla kona seafood market! I highly recommend the tacos.

I stopped in for a breakfast sandwich and went with the everything bagel--solid choice, but the egg and bacon stole the show. Overflowing, hot, and huge! Highly recommend adding avocado. Outdoor tables w/ lots of green, super cute! Short walk from downtown.

I don't even know where to start. We decided to try some new places today and landed here. The cappuccinos tasted burnt and extremely bitter, and we couldn't get past 2 sips. My mother put 8 packs of sugar, and it was still extremely bitter. The fish on the "Local Kine" was dry and overseasoned. The crepe had undercooked dough in it, but at least the fruits were fresh? The mauka mocha tasted nothing like coffee or chocolate, just banana. We ordered another cappuccino to see if it would be better. It took 10 minutes to get it. When we did, one sip and threw it away. It looks pretty and tastes terrible. Don't come here if you care for your health.

Pretty quick cafe, very good breakfast sandwich. Tasted fresh and homemade, which was awesome. Price was good too. Definitely recommend. Great that it's right next to the gym; workout then have an amazing meal afterwards!

I ordered a Carmel Iced Latte, and it was perfect. It tasted intense, exactly how I like it. I also ordered a bacon bagel sandwich. It came with the bacon perfectly done, and the bacon was cooked exactly like I like it and it was on an everything bagel with cheese. I would go again for either. My husband ordered a Bacon, mushroom, onion omelette. He did say next time probably order it with cooked onions as they were intense. He ordered a regular coffee, and that tasted like a basic coffee. I did buy the "local" Kona Coffee Rub and I didn't realize until I was already gone that it was expired last month already. Overall, I would not buy the rubs there or I would at least pay attention to the BB date, but we go again for sure for coffee!

Honestly not too bad of a place to eat! If you wanna keep it simple but delicious, this is the place. My s/o had gotten the local kine (rice with over easy egg and added kalua pork). I had gotten the avocado toast. Not what I expected it to be... but it was DELICIOUS. shared some with the family and it was so so good. Grateful to have it. There's around 3 tables for seating right infront outside of the shop, and there's more seating around the corner. If you're visiting, it is an easy walk from alii drive, good place for a meal.

This place is a hidden gem. While there’s a huge line at the cafe across the street for boring pre-made food, this one has an amazing menu! The avocado toast with eggs, bacon, and cheese is on point! It’s one of the best breakfast places around if you’re not looking for a great view but good coffee and food.

It's a beast little breakfast spot close to one of the hotels I stayed at during my visit. They have a mid range selection of coffees and easy to take on the go with breakfast items. I got an egg sandwich in a bagel and it was quite good. Tried to go there for dinner but they close at 3

We stumbled onto this cafe when our first choice came up closed for the week. This cafe was well recommended on the list of local breakfast spots, so we gave it a shot. We ordered at the counter - a breakfast sandwich, 2 kalua pork omelettes, and some fruit - then we waited…and waited…for 30+ minutes before we got our food. There was no line of people, but the folks serving up apologized for the delay and told us about a large order for a group around the front of the building. We luckily had the sense to split up our group to pickup coffee. The food came as expected, but wasn't anything special. The kalua pork was on the salty side, but tasty and the breakfast sandwich was par for the course. It was filling and a good final meal before heading to the airport.
