A Prime Cut Above the Kona Coast

Stepping into Miller and Lux Hualalai offers a departure from the typical beachside poke shack. Perched within the upscale landscape of the Hualalai resort area, this dining room trades sandy floors for polished surfaces and a refined, quiet confidence. The air here carries the faint, charred scent of premium beef searing over high heat—a distinct aromatic shift from the salt spray drifting in from the nearby Pacific.

The Culinary Philosophy

Helmed by the vision of Chef Tyler Florence, the menu leans heavily into the traditions of an old-world steakhouse but filtered through a modern, sophisticated lens. The signature Dry-Aged Ribeye is the undeniable centerpiece; it arrives with a crust so deep and flavorful that the accompanying sauces often feel like an afterthought. You will also find that the side dishes, particularly the creamed spinach and truffle-infused potatoes, are crafted with a precision that demands your full attention.

What to Expect

The space is built for those looking to commemorate an occasion or simply trade their flip-flops for something a bit more formal. While the service is polished and attentive, be prepared for a slightly elevated pace—this is a place that encourages lingering over a bold glass of Cabernet long after the plates are cleared. Keep in mind that the acoustics can get quite lively when the room is at capacity, making it a better spot for spirited conversation than a hushed, intimate secret. It is a quintessential stop for locals and visitors alike who appreciate the marriage of high-end cattle ranching heritage and the breezy, coastal elegance of Kailua-Kona.

Amazing food, amazing drinks, amazing location and perfect attention to detail. The price is very justified, but don't come here unless you're hungry! Jason our server did an excellent job customizing everything to our taste.

Fantastic food and service here! Made a reservation on Open Table. Had a nice table on the balcony to see the sunset. Bring sunglasses as the sun gets pretty intense sometimes. Vanh and Kara are super nice! We would come back here again just for their great, friendly service. Food was delicious. NY steak cooked perfectly. Truffle risotto was also tasty. They have the best Truffle crunch fries!! The portions are decent size. Actually, there was so much food, we were too full to eat dessert. We need to order dessert next time.

Grateful for the hospitality of everyone at our dinner tonight—backwaiters, waiter, sommelier, chef, and manager—they all provided incredible service. The food was equally outstanding. The Caesar salad was elevated to another level with its tableside presentation and perfectly balanced flavor. The steak tartare with bone marrow was out of this world, definitely the perfect combination. The salmon and lobster were characterized by their fresh taste. The risotto, I must say, is the BEST risotto I have ever tasted, and with truffles, the experience was elevated a thousandfold. The dessert was neither too sweet nor too simple, striking a perfect balance after such a great main course. I must again thank the waitress (I forgot her name, sorry) who, upon learning I had a race that day, congratulated me with a piece of chocolate. It's those little touches that impress me. And to top it all off, this incredible meal was accompanied by a beautiful view.

Finally got a reservation for this place for my wife's birthday and this was one of the most disappointing experience that I have had in our many visit at fine dining restaurants that we visit on the regular. Atmosphere was fun place with good ambiance and server was helpful. Food was so so very disappointing. Ordered the dry aged tomahawk steak it was cooked as requested med rare but with absolutely no sensing or flavor and they offer 3 dipping sauces for the steak. A steak should never need dipping sauce. Fore the price not worth even eating there with 2 entrees and starter salads, truffle mac and cheese and a bottle of wine $750 defiantly not worth it and would not go again. At this rate I expect so much more and will spend this kind of money at a place that can deliver high standards.

I had the best filet I've ever eaten here at Miller and Lux at the Four Seasons Hawaii. It was perfectly cooked and the sauce was delicious. We also had the bananas foster flambe'd at the table side. Once in a lifetime meal. Thank you, we hope to return some day.

Miller & Lux was a wonderful experience. Great ambience, our seats had an ocean view. We were attended to by a very attentive, friendly and efficient service team. Started with a cocktail that was well made and appreciated. Instead of bread, a popover was served warm and fresh. The locally grown oysters were appreciated, as was the Chopped Steakhouse Wedge Salad. For main entree it was the Dover Sole and the Australian Wagyu Ribeye, with mushrooms and a baked potato as side dishes. All of this tasted great, as was the table service. Finished with the profiteroles and a slice of the Seven Layer Pineapple. Had a fantastic dining experience.

We dined at Miller & Lux on Memorial Day with a party of four to celebrate my wife’s birthday, and it was an absolutely outstanding experience from start to finish. The view alone is worth the visit—breathtaking and the perfect backdrop for a special occasion. The service was impeccable: warm, attentive, and thoughtful without being overbearing. Every course was beautifully presented and packed with flavor—the food truly lived up to the hype. Even our 5-year-old had a fantastic time and couldn’t get enough of the kids' fish entrée and the chocolate cake for dessert! We had the filet, tomahawk, with multiple delicious sides. The dessert course included a table-side prepared bananas foster---delicious! Miller & Lux is a must-visit restaurant that delivers on every level—ambiance, service, and cuisine. I highly recommend it for any special celebration or a memorable night out. We’ll definitely be back!

We had an awesome time at Miller & Lux Hualalai- every dish was spot on. The oysters were fresh, the steak was perfectly cooked, and the lobster was incredible. The Ali'i mushrooms were absolutely delicious, and the desserts were the perfect way to end the meal - light, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The service was friendly and attentive, and the team added a personal touch that made the birthday celebration feel truly special. Mahalo!

What an extraordinary dining experience!!! The room is magnificent. The service was absolutely flawless, and the food was great. We came here many times before when it was the grill… And recently they brought in a celebrity chef and new partners and have a totally new menu. I loved the place before, but now it’s a whole new experience. We had a lot of dishes and the lobster appetizer is great! The deviled eggs were good. The Cesar was amazing! The sole was really flavorful and apparently it is flown in fresh daily and not frozen. However even though it tasted great the texture was a little tougher than I’m used to. The steak was flavorful as well but there were a few grisly bits…but it was 24 oz so 🤷‍♀️the creamed corn was amazing - not too creamy and a little coconut. That’s my thing but not for everybody. The mushrooms were the best I’ve ever had. Really nice dining experience 🎉🎉🎉💖 and another great restaurant in hualalai 🏝️

Everything at Miller and Lux was perfect! The atmosphere and the sunset from the restaurant is spectacular! From the moment you walk in, the hostess were very welcoming and friendly. We grabbed a drink at the bar and the whole bar staff were amazing! From the bartender Jeff to our server Will, everyone was very knowledgeable around the menu. We had a wonderful relaxing evening with everything coursed out perfectly. The food is definitely Michelin star worthy. From appetizers to dessert everything was a 10/10. Steaks are a must try and out of this world but if you’re not a meat eater there are other delicious dishes that will have you coming back for more. We can’t wait to return to try the whole menu. Whether you’re visiting or local this is a must try for your next special night out.
