A Local Flavor Escape in Kailua-Kona

If you find yourself wandering through the heart of the Big Island looking for a genuine meal, Keoni's Point Of View delivers the kind of no-frills, hearty comfort food that defines island living. Located within the scenic surroundings of Kailua-Kona, this spot captures the spirit of a neighborhood gathering place where the salt air mingles with the scent of savory, slow-cooked preparations.

Savoring the Kona Spirit

The menu leans heavily into local staples, focusing on generous portions that satisfy after a long day of snorkeling or hiking. Expect plates filled with tender kalua pork and flavorful sides that emphasize freshness. The atmosphere is unpretentious; it feels less like a restaurant and more like being invited to a friend’s backyard barbecue. You will hear the rhythmic hum of local conversation and the occasional clatter of pans from the kitchen, grounding you in the authentic pace of life on the Kona Coast.

A Few Observations

Part of the charm here is the relaxed, casual energy, which means you shouldn't expect white-tablecloth service. The space is cozy, and during the dinner rush, the acoustics can get quite lively, making it an excellent spot for groups looking to let loose rather than for those seeking a quiet, intimate whisper-soft dinner. Finding a spot to park can occasionally be a bit of a puzzle in this busy sector of town, so patience is a virtue when arriving.

Whether you are a visitor trying to step away from the tourist-heavy strips or a resident looking for a consistent, filling lunch, this kitchen serves up a reliable slice of Hawaii’s culinary identity. It is the kind of place that prides itself on consistency, providing a reliable home-cooked feel in the middle of a Pacific paradise.

I love a restaurant with a harbor overlook. You get to watch boats come and go, see the bustle of fishermen and clients, hear the sounds of the ocean. We had an excellent fish and chips dinner, and as a bonus, watching a wonderful sunset. It was entirely satisfactory.

Local feel, small seafood eatery on a local harbor. They have nice happy hour specials. Unfortunately today is their last day open at this location. The server told me there is another location (I'm not sure where though)

Tourists, don't be afraid of this locals place. It does look a little sketch from the outside. People inside were great. Happy hour is a good deal. I ordered the fish and chips but the real star was the spicy poke nachos made with fried wontons that my wife ordered. A local beer and and dragon fruit cider? Yes please! We had a nice hour watching the boats come and go on their patio.

Very friendly and attentive server. Food was fresh and the harbor local area stray cat named "Fish" joined us for lunch. Try the nachos and fish taco.

This small place is at the boat harbor. We just ordered at the counter and took our food to go so I can't comment on table service, decor, restroom, etc. Our order taker was friendly, and she even brought our food out to our car! Order came quickly. We both had the Ono fish and chips. It was about $33 but the orders were large: lots of fish and lots of fries. Both were freshly out of the oil. Fish can be either beer battered or panko battered. We had panko. The breading didn't have tons of flavor but the fish was fresh and tasty. If you love Ono like we do, this is a good option.

Wow why isn’t this place more crowded. The food is awesome and the view is great. We had the Kampachi Collar and the Garlic Shrimp. Both were done perfectly. Wish we had some crusty sourdough bread for that garlic sauce. The side were really good as well. Ola beer on tap.
