Journey Cafe Big Island

As a celiac I was very grateful to find this restaurant for dinner. All fresh, gluten free ingredients. All vegan too, but everyone in my party couldn’t even tell that our tacos didn’t have any meat. Such yummy food, my whole family wants to go back for more!

This place has the best food in the entire Big Island. I’ve been in Hawaii for three weeks, visited multiple islands, and I have been greatly disappointed with the food in Hawaii, and the service-industry in general. Journey Cafe, hands-down, has the best food you will find on any of the islands. We had the crêpe and the barbecue chicken burrito, and both were delectable. What brought us in was the samples of their ice cream they were passing out near the shoreline walkway. The ice cream, which we sampled a few different flavors, was the best ice cream I’ve had, not only while in Hawaii, but for as long as I can remember. And to top it all off, everything is animal-cruelty free :-)

Of all the places we've been to on the Big Island, Journey Cafe is by far the most innovative when it comes to vegetarian and vegan cuisine. We had the acai bowl and the savory crepe. Both were delectable. The savory crepe is easily the best I have ever had. They even made a vegan runny egg - so yum and inventive. Planning to come back here every day during our stay in Kona. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. They even let us sample their dairy free soft-serves - they were amazing.

If you’re looking for vegetarian or vegan food on the big island, look no further. This place is it. The vibe of the place along with the quality of the food was simply incredible. We found this only on the last day of our trip and regretted trying other vegan places prior to this. The açaí bowl, journey salad and veg omelette were extraordinary. Each main dish came with a drink and they were equally amazing. The coffee shake was awesome too. They parking nearby in $12 per hour so would recommend parking a block away in the public free lot. The location is being the sunglass hut.

Super cute and cozy cafe with fantastic food! The feisty tacos were hands down my favorite. My husband usually doesn’t like tacos at all, but he loved these (which says a lot 😄). The mashed crepe was delicious too — super creamy on top with perfectly crispy potatoes inside. I’m personally not the biggest fan of chickpea flour, so the veggie omelette wasn’t my favorite dish, but it was still really flavorful. They also give you a free sample of their ube and mac nut ice cream… and wow, it was amazing! Never thought vegan ice cream could taste this good. If you’re in Kona, don’t miss this place. Highly, highly recommend!

We ordered the feisty tacos and two crepes. The service was slow but the food was amazing! So happy it was fully vegan and can’t believe their soft-serve is dairy free 🌱 I wish we didn’t go there on our last day of our holiday because we would have loved to eat there a few more times.

What a GEM this place is! Absolutely phenomenal people running this place, so fun, friendly! Food is incredible, top notch quality, flavorful, delicious and makes you come back for more, more .. lol Young family of four, thoroughly enjoyed the vibe, energy, food and friendly atmosphere of the dine in experience. Smoothies, Juices, Vegan ice creams are all amaaazing!! Crazy flavorful food you can't miss on the Big island!!

Delicious food, Wonderful customer service and awesome atmosphere for having a brunch or breakfast with family and friends. This is a must for every vegetarian. We loved everything here, the eggless omelette)crepe, pancake, tacos, macadamia milk coffee shake. The iced teas were available complementary. The staff is very friendly and takes time it take your order and are not rushing anyone.

I am not vegan and didn't know that the cafe was a vegan cafe until i got there. But gosh did the food blow my mind! It was so good, and i would totally come back here to try the other dishes. The vibes are 100% amazing. I got to try a little bit of their vegan soft serve and it was phenomenal as well. My pesto and gravy meal was filling and great. I also got a drink cup with my meal and tried their delicious creamy chai. Overall, i would definitely recommend this place.

Great food! My favorite is the Strawberry Oat milk Macadamia Milkshake! It's to die for! Been craving it since I had it the first time‼️They also offer free cold flavored teas when you purchased an entree or something. The Hibiscus flavor one is pretty good.
