About
Local Mornings on the Kona Coast
Stepping into Island Corner Cafe is like joining the morning rhythm of Kailua-Kona. Located right in the heart of town, this spot serves as a reliable anchor for residents grabbing a quick bite before heading down to the waterfront or preparing for a day of snorkeling. You won't find the pretension of luxury resort dining here; instead, it is a functional, no-frills space where the aroma of freshly brewed Kona coffee dictates the pace of the room.
The Flavor Profile
The menu leans heavily into local comfort favorites. Expect generous portions of loco moco that hit the spot after a morning hike, and house-made breakfast specials that highlight island produce. It’s the kind of place where the kitchen staff knows the regulars by name and the clatter of porcelain plates creates a familiar, humming soundtrack. If you are craving a hearty breakfast that skips the tourist-heavy fluff, this is your go-to.
Practical Dining Tips
Be prepared for the reality of Kona town parking—it can be a bit of a dance during peak mid-morning hours, so keep your eyes peeled for a spot along the street or nearby public lots. While the seating area is cozy and can get a bit loud when the local crowd gathers for their mid-week catch-ups, the atmosphere is authentically Hawaiian. It’s an ideal stop for solo travelers, families, or anyone looking to start their day in Kailua-Kona like a local. Whether you are fueling up for a long drive to the North Kohala coast or just wandering through the village, the simplicity of the cafe offers a refreshing shift from the manicured hotel dining scene.

We picked up a couple of wraps for our flight back home. The sunrise wrap was decent but mine had NO chicken at all despite paying $3 for the add-on. Besides, the pesto was too oily and the wrap was wet.

Cute little shop. There is not much room inside to eat but there are tables outside. Since the weather was nice it was a treat to eat outdoors. Had the Wiki Wiki plate. Eggs, rice and Portuguese sausage. My daughter had the special french toast sandwich with egg and bacon and of course syrup. Caramel coffee was good the lemonade was different just not my favorite.

Ordered online, which was the right move given how busy it was when I arrived. A very polished looking spot, wish I had gone for the donuts. The hot breakfast food was OK but kind of underwhelming breakfast burrito and the avocado toast was just alright. Unfortunately, it was the worst coffee we’ve had in Hawaii. I don’t know what happened to it but I couldn’t drink it and my partner chugged it so he wouldn’t have to taste it. 4 for environment, 3.5 for food, and 1 for coffee.

Cool cafe! We stopped here for a quick breakfast before an activity filled day! The service was quick, friendly and efficient. The coffee was good and so was our breakfast. We enjoyed a perfectly toasted croissant & a breakfast croissant sandwich. We sat at a picnic table just outside the cafe, the weather was beautiful as well.
